PRE K Kindergarten

Activities in this section are designed to provide support for children who are working on beginning reading skills.

At Risk Readers

Activities in this section are designed to provide additional support for children in grades1-5 who are working below grade level standards.

Activities in this section are designed to support your child’s continued success on meeting grade level expectations.

Reading is a progression of 6 interdependent skills that are needed to become a competent reader.

Video activities at the PRE K & Kindergarten level provide support for children who are practicing beginning reading skills. Phonological Awareness is emphasized at this level since it sets the foundation for phonics and future reading success.

All activities at this level emphasize the use of hands on materials and pictures to practice skills.

Reading is a progression of 6 interdependent skills that are needed to become a competent reader.

Video activities at the At-Risk level provide support for children in grades 1-5 who are working below grade level. All activities focus on previously taught skills.

Early remediation is highly encouraged since a child’s difficulty in one skill area often affects his/her growth in the other skills and exacerbates the reading struggle.

Reading is a progression of 6 skills that are all needed to become a competent reader. These skills are interdependent and children are continuously receiving instruction and practice in all skills simultaneously.

Activities in this section are designed to support your child’s continued success on meeting grade level expectations. With the increased skill development needed for reading and comprehending increasingly difficult text, parent support ensures that students are able to meet these demands.

In addition to the introduction video and skill activity videos, a PDF is provided showing all materials used at each level.

All items can be found in most discount stores, educational stores, or around your home. Kitchen items include cupcake pans, baking pans, and storage containers.

Clip art, photographs, and index cards were used to create picture cards, word cards, and sight words.
