What have you learned from your audience feedback? After finishing all my 3 products for my A2 Media Studies, I needed to collect audience feedback to confirm my strengths, limitations and how my products intrigued my audience. So, to collect this I chose to use 10 boys and 10 girls within the ages of 15-20 years old. I gave them a sheet of the typical conventions for my chosen music genre ‘House’ and asked them to watch my music video and look at my digipack and advert and then answer a questionnaire I made. Then, to conclude and show my results I placed it in a pie and bar chart to outline what I have learned from my audience feedback. I am researching through videos with the same genre as my song to help me with my ideas for my music video. Typical conventions for house music is: 1. Many dancers, particular girls which appeals to males 2. Represents the party life. 3. However, some house songs similar to my song have a story line in their music videos such as 'Avicii- Addicted to you'. 4. Also, it is rare to see the artists in the video. 5. Includes a lot of mid-shots and close ups of artists face

What have you learned from your audience feedback?

• After finishing all my 3 products for my A2 Media Studies, I needed to collect audience feedback to confirm my strengths, limitations and how my products intrigued my audience.

• So, to collect this I chose to use 10 boys and 10 girls within the ages of 15-20 years old. I gave them a sheet of the typical conventions for my chosen music genre ‘House’ and asked them to watch my music video and look at my digipack and advert and then answer a questionnaire I made.

• Then, to conclude and show my results I placed it in a pie and bar chart to outline what I have learned from my audience feedback.

I am researching through videos with the same genre as my song to help me with my ideas for my music video. Typical conventions for house music is:

1. Many dancers, particular girls which appeals to males

2. Represents the party life.3. However, some house songs similar to my song have

a story line in their music videos such as 'Avicii- Addicted to you'.

4. Also, it is rare to see the artists in the video.5. Includes a lot of mid-shots and close ups of artists

My Questionnaire ResultsFrom my questionnaire handed out to my audience I got many results of how my music video and my ancillary tasks came across to my focus group. For example, from the questionnaire I can see that:

Percentage %

Boys (15-20 years old)Girls (15-20 years old)

• Only 30% of boys enjoyed my narrative based music video as they feel it didn’t “relate to both genders”.

• But, 70% of girls within my focus group loved the narrative based theme as “they can relate to the brand image” created.

Percentage %

Boys Girls

• 100% of boys and 100% of the girls within my focus group ticked ‘yes’ when answering the question of ‘do you think my digi-pack and advert combine well with the music video?’ portraying the consistency within my 3 products.

Percentage %

BoysGirls

• Also, 100% of the boys enjoyed the performance shots like DJ shots as it “links well with the party theme” and portrays it well to entertain

• But only 60% of girls enjoyed shots like DJ shots as they said they liked the “brand image” more as they can relate to the artist.

GenderOverall, this bar chart shows that only 7 out of 10 boys between 15-20 years old enjoyed my media products. This result did not entirely shock me as my target audience was mainly focused towards girls, but through this feedback I can see that I should have focused on attracting both genders, especially to boys within the 17-18 years old range as none of them enjoyed my media products because they feel it was “more of a feminine song and does not attract” them, by focusing more on both genders it really would increase my range when selling my products.

But, I was very pleased that all the girls within my focus group enjoyed my media products as it was focused towards girls within that fairly broad age group and shows my products successfully attracted all of them.

Conclusion• Through this research I have found out that choosing my target audience as mainly

girls between 15-20 years old was correct as all the girls that joined in the research loved my 3 products. Even though, some boys did think my products were good, they have shown that my products don’t attract both genders equally and what I should do to persuade the male perspective to enjoy my products.

• Also, I found out through my questionnaire that my products link well together and my video and ancillary tasks synergise well together, which heightens my audiences attention and link to many typical conventions within my genre of modern ‘house’ music.
