1. Question 1: In what ways does your media product use,
develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media
products?
2. Conventions of opening sequences An opening sequence is
suppose to set the mood for the film, for example if it is a comedy
then it should be light and make the audience feel happy. An
opening sequence should also introduce the main characters to the
audience. An opening sequence should introduce the title of the
movie and the producers, directors, etc. An opening sequence should
make the audience want to watch the rest of the film. An opening
sequence should allow the audience to guess the aims of the film
and try to figure out what is going to happen, this is more
depending on the genre, for example a mystery or thriller is more
likely to be giving hints or open with a mystery.
3. How Ive used these conventions? The title of my movie
(UNKOWN) is made very clear and sums up the movie because she is
getting harassed and she doesnt know who. I think it is important
for your title to sum up the movie because it will help the
audience decide whether it is a film they would like to watch. I
think I have set the mood for the audience, this is because of the
soundtrack Ive used is building tension throughout the opening and
the fact that the main character looks so scared and distressed
this will make the audience feel uneasy.
4. How Ive challenge these conventions? I think my opening
sequence challenges the conventions of opening sequences because it
shows the person who is harassing the girl right at the end, even
though the audience cant tell the gender or anything it still shows
them whereas usually they dont give hints until later on in the
film. I think it was a good idea to show the stranger right at the
beginning because then the audience becomes more involved because
theyve seen the person and the girl still hasnt.
