In our class, we will work with 15 pupils who have 5 years old, but one child is from Sahara since one year. He is Rashid, Rashid is 5 years old and he is adopted. Is black and he has got black eyes, and he has a very expressive face. He is shy and he doesn’t understand very much in English. He speaks Basque with his adoptive parents and in Spanish with his friends. During English classes, he doesn’t understand anything, but when he understands something he ignores everything that English teacher say. The English teacher is not the tutor. We are going to do 3 classes for week of thirty minutes each class. METHODOLOGY: Our main objective is that children could express their self, so that we are going to work with basic words and ideas about their routines. Our project has got 4 weeks. We will learn one topic each week, but when we learn a new topic we are going to review the things that we had seen last week. With this methodology we can remember all the topics. PRINCIPLES:

Project

THE CONTEXT:

METHODOLOGY:

Our main objective is that children could express their self, so that we are going

to work with basic words and ideas about their routines.

Our project has got 4 weeks. We will learn one topic each week, but when we

learn a new topic we are going to review the things that we had seen last week. With

this methodology we can remember all the topics.

PRINCIPLES:

- Cooperation methodology.

- Don´t use books and don´t teach with grammar.

- Speaking practice and use body language.

ACTIVITIES PRINCIPLES:

- Change activity every 5-10 minutes not to get bored.

- Mixing excitable games with quiet ones.

- Make lessons playful and full of physical movement.

- Avoid competition.

- Encourage and support young learns.

- Use song and puppets to motivate and learn vocabulary.

- Concentrate also on speaking practice with a single words and short phrases.

- Teacher could be repeated in English all that children said in Basque.

- Speak slowly and clearly so that children can understand well.

TOPICS:

First, we are going to practice places they usually go (pool, school,

supermarket, doctor, playground…). Secondly, we are going to teach family (parents,

grandparents, sisters, brothers). Thirstily, we are going to teach how they can express

their feelings (boring, happy, sad, scared). At this way the children will be motivated to

speak about their routines.

1 WEEK

In the first week, we are going to start learning the names of the places like park, pool,

library, supermarket, doctor…

At the beginning of English classes, we are going to sing a Hello song. It is going to be a

routing because all the days we are going to start the lesson with it.

To teach Hello song, first we are going to put the song and children have to listen it,

then we are going to put the song one more time and children have to repeat it.

Then, we are going to see a video about town vocabulary. In the video we will see one

by one the places of the town and we are going to say the name and children have to

Painting

Children should paint the different sites of their town, and they must draw below the

name of the place. The example will be on the board to children copy.

Learn word (places)

After that, we will do learn words activity. With this

activity we want to children can learn the names

that are appear in the video. To do that we will have

a picture where there appear the places of the town

that we have seen in the video and with our finger

we are going to indicate the places and say the

name. Children have to see the picture and repeat

the name. We are going to use the easiest.

Fishing

When we finish learn words activity, we are going to play a game to revise the things

that we learned.

We are going to put a lot of piece of papers on the floor. These papers would have

different pictures about the topic we are learning (places). Also, each picture has a

paperclip to fishing with a cane. During the activity, children have to fishing one

picture and say the name. We are going to use the easiest and the place they usually

visited. Then, the children have to paint the pictures.

The teacher is going to ask questions to the children and they must answer yes or no,

so they should understand the questions.

Short Story

Then, we are going to tell a story about the places, using the vocabulary that we learn

last day.

I am live in Osio. This is my town, and there are some places in my town. I usually

visited all the places but I like go to the pool.

I am going to visit the doctor because I have a bellyache. The doctor is very nice but I

don’t like go to visit him. I need play with my friends in the pool.

Meanwhile, Sara and Jon are playing in the pool, they are very happy . Everyone wants

to be like them and their invited us, but we can’t go yet.

Pablo is buying apples in the supermarket with his mother, and then, he is going to

pool too.

And Sam, is in the school, and he is very happy, but he wants to go to the pool.

My friends and I, are impatient to go Sara and Jon’s pool at the afternoon, we always

have a good time there.

When we already finished all the task, we met the other friends at the pool, and we

have had a very good time.

After listen this story children should paint the map of their town. They are going to

paint the different places. Then they must put the name of the places below. The

teacher has got the model in the blackboard.

Finding couple

Then, we are going to do finding couple game. To play this game, we are going to put

on the floor different pictures and the children have to find the same pictures doing

couples. To do this game children have to get up one by one to see what it is behind

the picture and then try to find its partner. If he or she doesn´t find the couple, has to

sit in her or his site and pass the turn for the other partner.

The last game is going to be Simon says. Teacher is going to say: “Simon says…” and

then she/he is going to say the word she/he want to children learn. For example:

“Simon says point the finger in the school” and children have to put the finger in the

After sing a song, teacher shows pictures of each site. For example the supermarket,

and she say to the children: this is a supermarket, and they must repeat. Then, she

does the same with all photos. Thereby, they are going to learn the places names bit

by bit.

weekend? With whom? And how did you feel?

So that, we are going to teach the structures to them in order that they can answer to

After that, we will do learn words activity.

Playing Bingo (we take this from children education blog)

As we want children to practice the vocabulary they have already learnt, teacher is

going to show them a family bingo. In each bingo-card are being 4 different members

of family, teacher is having some cards with the same pictures than the bingo cards.

When the teacher shows and names the card, children who have that card will have to

say: “I have it.”. And when they don’t have the picture shown, they will have to say: “I

don´t have it”. When children have a family member on their own bingo-card, they will

put a macaroni on it, and when a child has the four macaroni on the pictures, he or she

will say bingo.

Short story

Then, we are going to tell a story about the family, using the vocabulary that we learn

the last day.

Nazam is reading a book in his bed. He can´t read because he doesn´t know.

So he calls his mother.

-Mom! Mom! Come here please. - And Nazam´s mother goes. Then Nazam said:

- Can you read me a book please?- And Nathams mother reads a book for Nazam.

But, Nazam can´t heard anything because his sister is playing the piano.

So, Nazam’s parents buy him a beautiful book that has only images.

And because of that, Nazam is very happy!

The next activity is going to be finding the couple. To do the activity we would divide

the class in two groups. One group is going to draw pictures for our game and the

other group is going to start playing with pictures that have already done. In soil of the

classroom there are going to be same pictures prone and children have to find the

couple for each picture. To do this children have to get up one by one to see what it is

behind the picture and then try to find its partner. If he or she doesn´t find the couple,

have to sit in her or his site and pass the turn for the other partner.

The last game is going to be Simon says. Teacher is going to say: “Simon says…” and

then she/he is going to say the word she/he want to children learn. For example:

Teacher will show children a picture of her family and she is going to explain this picture: “she is my mom, he is my dad…” pointing her mom and her dad; then, each child is going to take her or his family picture and then she or he is going to explain the picture to the other classmates. Children are going to use the same structure as teacher used before “she is…, he is…”, and children are going to point the picture while they are explaining it.

In the third week, we are going to learn names of feelings like happy, sad, bored and

scared.

each child would have one picture and they have to say what the picture emotion is.

exercise the teacher will say one sentence whit one word that we learn, and children

have to run and touch the picture that correspond.

4. WEEK

This week will be the last of our project, so we will practice everything that we

have learned in the previous weeks. We will play to the same games and sing the same

songs, but now with all words and sentences together. We will put in practice the

contents of each topic: places, members of family and feelings; and we will relate

words of ones topics to others by games and songs.

For this week, our main objective will be that children know answer to these

three questions:

- Where did you go at the weekend?

- With whom?

- How did you feel?

1.class:

Hello song.

Fishing

We will play “fishing” like we have done in the previous weeks, but now with cards

which pictures will be all the topics, that is to say, with places, family members and

feelings. The children will have to raise the cards and say what place, what members of

the family and what feelings appear in each of them.

For example, in one card will appear grandma and grandpa at house very smiling, so

the child who has raised the card, it will have to say: “Grandma and grandpa are in a

house and they are happy”.

Simon says

We will play “Simon says” like we have done in the previous weeks, but now with all

the topics. There will be places and members of family pictures around the class

(playground, mountain, house, supermarket, fathers, mother, brother, sister,

grandparents) and also, now Simon can says: “feel scared!” so, they will have to put

scary face.

Sing a songs

We will sing all the songs that we have learn in the previous weeks. First, “family

fingers”, and then, “felling song”. At this way, we will remember the key words that we

learn at each week, to be able to practice during this week.

Run-run

There are pictures around the class about words that we learned in previous weeks. In

this exercise the teacher will say one sentence whit one word that we learn, and

children have to run and touch the picture that correspond. For example:

Teacher: “I am in… the supermarket!”, so the children have to run very fast and

supermarket´s picture.

Teacher: “I am… scared!!” and the children will run to touch that picture.

Too finally, we are going to sing good bye song.

2. class:

Hello song

Story

We will tell a story in where will appear the contents that we have see previously. At

this way, children could relate places with members of family and with feelings, so we

will have to remark that’s words. Also, the pictures which we will show, they will be

very important to learn words, to relate theirs with images and to understand the

story.

Little Lily

Lily is a little and funny girl. She has many friends and she likes play with

them at the playground. Also, she has a dad, mum and little brother and she loves

make a chocolate cakes whit them. She is very happy…

But sometimes, she has to go to the school. And she hates it! She feels very

bored at school, so she don´t like it.

One day, Llily didn´t go to the school, so she said to her mum that she feel hill…

- Oooh.. -sais Lily´s mum- you can´t go to the school! You must to be at home, Lily.

At first she felt very-very happy to stay at home, but when she´s parents go out,

she felt very bored. Suddenly she listened some noises and she felt very scared. Lily

was alone and she didn´t like it. When Lily´s mum and dad came back home, she

said:

- Mum! Dad! Don´t let me alone never! I like school and I go there every days!

Questions about story

After we have told the story, we will do questions about it, like for example: “Where

she has gone?”, “With whom?”, “How has she felt?”. Children will have to answer

these questions. If they answer with one word (school, house, playground) we will say

all the sentence correctly: “She goes to the playground, she goes with her friends and

she feels very happy “. We well say that slowly and remarking all the words, then, we

will ask him to repeat with us, and we will help them:

- How has she felt?

- Happy!

- Yes! Very well: she feels very happy! Come on, repeat with me: she feels very happy!

- She feels very happy! - all together

- Very well!! Congratulations!

Finding couple

We will play this game like we have done in the previous weeks, but now with cards

which pictures will be all the topics. The cards will be pictures of places (mountain,

house, playground, supermarket), members of family (father, mother, brother, sister,

grandparents, friends) or feels (happy, sad, bored, scared). The children will have to

raise the cards one by one to find the same card, while they say what they see in the

picture.

Run-run

We will play run-run game at the same way that we played the last day, but now, one

child have to say the sentence rather than the teacher, and the rest of the class have

to run and touch. At this way, they practice how to say the sentences that we want to

learn.

Questions: In this activity, we will do questions to all children to make a practical

dialog. We will do questions one by one and they have to answer as they know. For

example:

pictures of places, members of family and feelings, like which we have used previously

at memory play, but now all topics together, at the same card, for example: friends at

home bored.

Every child will have one card in the forehead, but they couldn´t see the own one, only

the others cards. So, they have to know what they have in the forehead doing

questions to the others, for example:

- (friends at home bored) I´m in the mountain? - asks Jon.

- NO - answer the rest together.

- I´m in the house?

- YES!

- Mmm… I´m in the house with mum and dad?

- NO..

At this way the children will have to think what they could have in forehead, and they

will has remembered all they learned during this 4 weeks.
