Preschool: Ready or Not?

For a first time parent it is pretty difficult to understand whether the child should be

enrolled in a preschool or not. This article’s aim is to help the parents who are confused

and need help for the same.

First and foremost, ask yourself whether you are enrolling your child in preschool just

because you wish to use the time to yourself, or is it because all your friends' are

signing up? If so, you are not really making a wise choice. Remember a child who is 2-3

years old may not necessarily have the energy to stay awake through five hours of

preschool. In fact, in some cases, children find it extremely hard to stay away from their

mother. Also, seek for signs from

your preschool child about boredom

at home, or surprising attachment

for their older siblings or neighbors.

In times like these it is better to

train them first and then send them.

Additionally, see if your little one

can follow simple instructions?

Preschoolers are by and large

asked to clean up, observe snack guidelines, walk in a line with the rest of their class,

etc. Can they communicate well? I’m not saying a three year old should speak perfectly,

but in general, the teachers should be able to interpret what they are trying to say or if

they want something. Similarly, it is vital that they should be able to hear and

understand what their respective teacher is trying to say. Nevertheless, if they seem to

be keen to learn new things and walk around, or if they are not getting enough

motivation at home, chances are it's the perfect time to start nursery school.

Children are made to go to preschool so that they learn to be independent from their

mothers. It is indeed a difficult transition from the easy home lifestyle to the sudden

demands of a school. However, you must remember, a nursery can help with their

social skills and give the preschool child a chance to have fun too. They will help

develop and grow, which will aid them with their social as well as academic lives for

several years to come. Thus, in conclusion, I’d like to say parents are the best ones to

decide what will work out for their little one. The countless books, videos, classes, and

plans are just a source for opinions, ideas, and a bit of guidance for first time parents.

Thus, follow the above rely as well as rely on your parental instinct, as it is extremely

important and should not be ignored.
