Despite small, Portugal presents great inner differences
The north was colonized by Celts and Nordic people.
The south was colonized by the Muslims (the Arabs).
And we also have been colonized by the Romans.
So, we are a mixed people.
This is our first text written in Portuguese.
Portuguese language comes from the Latin.This is the first text, about economics written in Portuguese language.
25th April is an important date for all the Portuguese peopleIn this day, in 1974, there was a revolution. We becamed a democracy.
The red carnation was the symbol of this revolution.

The biggest Portuguese contribute to mankind was discovering new worlds in Africa, Asia, and America – Brasil, Patagonia, Good Hope Cape, India, China and Japan, and Australia ( we built the ocean internet!).Also Cristovão Columbo was married in Portugal and lived here many years –In Porto Santo, Madeira.

Saint Anthony of Padua, (born Fernando Martins de Bulhões;
15 August 1195 – 13 June 1231), also known as Anthony of Lisbon,
was a Portuguese Catholic priest and friar of the Franciscan Order.
Though he died in Padua, Italy, he was born and raised in Lisbon.
Noted by his contemporaries for his forceful preaching and expert
knowledge of scripture.

of the country, near the Spanish border.
