Life Philosophy/Personal Code25 Points

This assignment will be due in its final form during 3rd period on Friday, September 29th.

A “personal code” asks you, as a student, to examine your beliefs and to think deeply about what beliefs are most important to you. Hopefully, your personal code will steer your day-to-day course in your life. The old adage, “if you don’t stand for something, you will fall for anything” applies here.

For this assignment, you will be analyzing and interpreting various kinds of personal codes, mission statements or constitutions. You will need to evaluate your own beliefs or values and write a list of the most important and absolute principles which act as your guide and focus in your life.

The writing style that you use will reflect your own personality, principles, or creative approach and/or theme. Your final product should not only be creative in design, but it must be neat and mechanically correct. Directions are as follows:

1. Create a Mission Statement:- A general statement or paragraph of the way in which you will live or hope to be

able to live your life. This should be a broad statement of your character.

2. Set of Principles:- This is a group of statements or a paragraph of how to accomplish your mission

statement. Answer questions such as what you are passionate about, what you would die for, how you define success, and what your opinion on learning, humor, or integrity is.

3. Create an original representation of your principles. (No Poster!)This must be something original and concrete that can define your life philosophy and illustrate/represent your mission statement and the principles that you created.(We will talk more about examples of this in class.) You must incorporate your mission statement and principles into your representation.

4. Presentation:- Minimum of 3 minutes speaking time – Explain:- your mission statement in detail- your principles in detail- how your object/creation represents that philosophy- any examples of how you are fulfilling this philosophy today
