What is PISA?
OECD
Global measuring of quality, equity and efficiency of educational systems
PISA measures the level of performance of 15 year old students in key knowledge and skill areas necessary for their participation in modern society.

Programme for International Student Assessment
PISA surveys
give guidelines for educational policy by relating preformance data and socio-economic status of students, learning attitude and key factors that have an impact on learning at school and outside of it;
„literacy concept“ – student’s competence to apply knowledge and skills, to efficiently analyse, consider and communicate while sovling problems in different situations;
lifelong learning process- assesses students’ motivation to study, their attitudes, strategies they use while studying;
conducted in triannual cycles as of 2000 (Montenegro as of 2006) –enable progress monitoring

Literacy definitions
Mathematical literacy is individual’s competence to formulate, employ and interpret mathematics in a variety of contexts. It includes reasoning mathematically and using mathematical concepts, procedures, facts Iand tools to describe, explain and predict phenomena. It assists individuals to recognize the role that mathematics plays in life and to make the well founded judgments and decisions needed by constructive, engaged and reflective citizens.
Reading literacy is understanding, using and reflectin on written texts and engagement on them in order to achieve one’s goals and and develop one’s knowledge and potential for active participation in society.
Scientific literacy includes scientific knowledge and its application on recognizing scientific problems, acquiring new knowledge, scientific explanation of phenomena and drawing conclusions about science-related issues; scientific literacy also means understanding natural sciences as a form of human knowledge and activity; awareness of the ways in which science and technology shape life in modern world; readiness to engage and give personal contribution and building their position on solving scientific problems.
