DESCRIPTION
2014 will mark the fourth year of the Oxford-Cambridge Paddle to Read Dragon Boat Race in Cape Town. This fundraising event for literacy projects in South Africa sees Cambridge University Press staff go paddle-to-paddle against staff from Oxford University Press in a Boat Race that echoes the traditions and rivalry associated with the famous annual Boat Race held on the Thames by the Universities of Cambridge and Oxford. The South African event has grown into a fixture on the November calendar of the V&A Waterfront in Cape Town, drawing a large crowd of cheering spectators and staff from both publishing houses. The competitive, gritty Cambridge paddling team have hoisted the coveted trophy in victory for three years in a row - all eyes will certainly be upon them again during the 2014 race heats!
