Presentation by Technical Team
“ I tried to teach my child with books,He gave me only puzzled looks.
I tried to teach my child with words,They passed him by often unheard.
Despairingly, I turned aside,How shall I teach this child?” I cried.
Into my hand he put the key,“Come,” he said, “play with me.”
- Anon
“Each and every child is born with a desire to strive to be the best person
possible: both physically and mentally.
The child has the urge to do what she is best fitted to do, to be happy and
well adjusted.
To be so the child must be given an opportunity to fulfill the urge.”
Setting the Context…
“Working with children is like being exposed to a plethora of unleashed energy…………where we cherish every experience and certainly feel disillusioned when we
discover so much of un-utilized potential.
The prismatic charisma of their competencies dazzles us.
We are compelled to introspect and reflect that harnessing them completely is beyond our competencies.”
The holistic development of the child takes into account various domains, which exert influence on the personality of the child.
“The child is central to these forces”
Therefore, the need of the hour is to have a curriculum designed and developed keeping in mind all the dimensions essential for comprehensive personality development of the children.
NURTURE presents a developmentally appropriate curriculum that takes into
account potentialities of children at each stage
and….
The one that aims to capitalize on children’s strengths rather than attempting to override or negate them.
To conceive the paradigm of this curriculum, the multitude of approaches and myriad of
methodologies can be viewed through the following panorama
Integration
The curriculum has been developed in the most integrated manner.
Different disciplines are combined into multipurpose lessons to help students recognize connections amongst subjects and to make instruction more meaningful by giving students the opportunity to
apply skills from one discipline to another.
An integrated lesson might cover both science and social studies topics in its content.
Learning By Doing
The design of the curriculum is such that it facilitates the process of learning by doing and helps the
children to explore and apply newly learned skills independently.
Multiple - Intelligence
The organization of the curriculum is sensitive to multiple intelligences as children show intelligence in at least 9 different ways: Logical: Mathematical Intelligence Verbal: Linguistic intelligence Musical: Rhythmic intelligence Visual: Spatial Intelligence Bodily: Kinesthetic Intelligence Interpersonal: Social Intelligence Intrapersonal: Introspective Intelligence Naturalistic Intelligence Spiritual Intelligence
Multi - Sensory approach
Each child has his unique style ofacquiring information that is based on
his sensory preferences .
Therefore, a multi-sensory approach has beenadopted while formulating the
curriculum.
Research and Development
One of the distinctive features of the curriculum is that it has been administered effectively amongst specific
age-group of children.
The curriculum has adequate credentials and creates opportunities for the children to learn something new
with a different perspective every time.
Moreover, the curriculum has been constantly subjected to research development, analysis,
modification and enrichment.
Transaction Tools
The paraphernalia of the integrated curriculum includes books on comprehensive themes, easy accessible materials, and, if possible, ways for students to self
evaluate their work.
There are specific handout booklets, workbooks, teacher’s guide, and parent’s handbook for
introduction, reinforcement and extension of course content.
Scaffolding
We also shore up the approach of scaffolding where students work with help initially so that they can
eventually do on their own.
Procedures Guidelines
In addition to this there are guiding procedures that are expected to be carried out by the teacher while beginning
the class, conducting the class, ending the class, communicating, evaluating the assignments and so on.
Reflective Teaching
The curriculum recommends reflective teaching methodology through journal keeping, writing, interaction with other teachers, and reading
professional literature – on one’s practices as a teacher with the aim of growing professionally.
Effective Teaching Strategies
Our integrated curriculum supports the idea of positive reinforcement,
a behaviour – management technique that emphasizes
rewarding or recognizing good behaviour instead of punishing
bad behaviour.
New Age Parenting
The curriculum updates the parents with latest parenting
techniques and styles to bring up a happy and
competent child.
Last, but not the least“Our curriculum helps the child
achieve his true genetic potential or
full self- realization.”
