Newsletter 4 June 2014 Ryton Park School

Welcome

Thank you to all our visitors from Spain, Turkey and

Italy, who worked hard during their visit last week.

We had a fantastic time!

During June, Ryton Park School welcomed seven

visitors from our partnership schools. Three

teachers arrived from Via Gozzano, San Terenzo,

Lerici-La Spezia, Italy, three teachers from CEIP

Bautista Lledó, Capitán Cortés 12, 03502, Benidorm

and one teacher from Kardelen Kojeli, Cappadocia,

Turkey.

Getting Started During the visit we held a meeting for future

planning of the project including agreeing on mobility

dates and tasks for the coming months of the

project.

T

Thanks to the hard work by the team, we were able

to agree on updated activities and we are ready to

progress forward with our fantastic partnership!

A Super Start.

The four day visit was packed with a range of

activities that included sharing the teaching and

learning at our school, visiting local cultural

attractions, the highlight being a trip to Sherwood

Forest.

The theme for the visit was to share the teaching

of language as well as a cultural experience. As we

are a digital excellence school our focus was on the

use of technology within school, including our

excellent RPTV team.

Sharing Learning Experiences

The Italian, Spanish, UK and Turkish visitors took

part in lessons; guided reading and investigating

language (Y6 and Y2) and two numeracy lessons (Y3

and Y5).

The pupils thoroughly enjoyed interacting with our

visitors, asking questions about their school and

learning new words from native speakers. During the

lessons the teachers played an active part, helping

Y3 with numeracy strategies and guided reading in

Y2.

On Tuesday, the visitors spent the day in Lincoln,

one of our local cities, helping the Y3/4 children

during their visit to a local museum looking at life in

Ancient Greece before spending a few hours free

time exploring the city of Lincoln. A visit was made

to the cathedral before a walk along the castle walls

and lunch in the castle gardens.

During the evening on Tuesday, Ryton Park Primary

school hosted a Comenius dinner at the White Lion

Hotel.

The meal was a time for staff of Ryton Park

Primary school to meet our partnership school

visitors socially in an informal setting.

Wednesday

On Wednesday, our visitors from Turkey, Spain and

Italy accompanied our Key Stage 1 staff and

children on a study visit to Hornsea and The Deep.

The visit was arranged to support the Key stage 1

children’s topic of pirates and the seaside.

The Deep

As part of the visit to The Deep, the children were able to

view various marine life.

Hornsea

After lunch, we travelled to Hornsea to enjoy an English

seaside experience.

Thursday

After a successful visit our visitors set off back on their

journey home.

Ryton Park Primary school wishes them all a safe journey

home and we look forward to meeting you all again in

October, in Turkey.
