My goal is to build a solid foundation for my future career by having a good university education. I aim to prepare myself with the essential skills to take on any challenges and excel in whatever I do in the future. With the Nanyang Scholarship, I have been given the opportunities to pursue these goals in my learning path.

I picked the Nanyang Scholarship because it gives me the freedom WR�FKRRVH�DQG�WKH�ÀH[LELOLW\� WR�H[SORUH��%HLQJ�ERQG�IUHH�ZLWK�QR�attachment to any organisation, I can choose where I want to intern DW��0RVW�LPSRUWDQWO\��,�KDYH�WKH�ÀH[LELOLW\�WR�H[SORUH�YDULRXV�HPSOR\PHQW�opportunities before settling down to the right one when I graduate.

7KH�6FKRODUVKLS�DOVR�FRPHV�ZLWK�¿QDQFLDO�VXSSRUW�IRU�P\�XQGHUJUDGXDWH�studies and my summer exchange programme – which I completed at the University of Stuttgart in Germany last year.

To ensure students get the most out of this holistic curriculum, class size is kept small, with only about 50 outstanding students admitted. This enables our professors to give us more individualised attention and mentorship.

$V�D�¿UP�EHOLHYHU�LQ�WKH�LPSRUWDQFH�RI�ERWK�DFDGHPLF�DQG�QRQ�DFDGHPLF�achievements, I aim to never stop learning and improving. With the Nanyang Scholarship, I am able to nurture myself into an all-rounder with a wealth of experience in diverse areas.

Motivated to constantly better myself, I make it a point to be involved in different types of activities so that I can acquire a wide range of skills and grow holistically. The annual accommodation allowance from the Nanyang Scholarship allows me to stay in the campus without adding to my expenses, and at the same time, gives me more time to participate in various extra-curricular activities, like Soul Funky dancing, VZLPPLQJ��DQG�WKH�2YHUVHDV�&RPPXQLW\�,QYROYHPHQW�3URJUDPPH��The invaluable exposure has made me both a better team player, as well as a better leader. There is a good balance of practical and theory learning that will bode well for me in my future career path. I believe that learning is a lifelong process, and I hope to gain new perspectives and a global outlook from my tertiary education in NTU.

The Nanyang Scholarship has given me the opportunity to have a broad-based learning journey that extends beyond the walls of the classrooms. I have broadened my learning horizons through my participation in events like the Eminent Speaker Series, where I met PDQ\�SURPLQHQW�¿JXUHV�ZKR�DUH�WKH�EHVW� LQ�WKHLU�UHVSHFWLYH�¿HOGV��One of them was our former Foreign Minister, Mr. George Yeo, who gave me fresh perspectives on national and global issues. These are important and provide me with an all-round development.

That is precisely what I want to do one day — give back to society through my research work.

Over the years, NTU has become my home away from home. My experience in the Hall of Residence 15 has been truly enriching. Hall life is vibrant with celebrations and events. $IWHU�VSHQGLQJ�IRXU�\HDUV�LQ�WKH�$HURVSDFH�(QJLQHHULQJ�SURJUDPPH�as an undergraduate, I began to realise that I am more intrigued not E\�KRZ�DLUSODQHV�À\��EXW�UDWKHU�� WKH�HQJLQHHULQJ�PHFKDQLFV�DQG�principles of solids or structures.
