Woo, there are lots of spiders !

These were my materials for the spider science curriculum. The colorful pictures would attract the children easily.

Drama Play

Children helped me made a spider web and tried to think out who was going to put on the spider clothes.

Drama Play

Child K put on the spider clothes and show us her spider legs. She touched the web with her fingers and climbed on it with all her “legs”. These would help her with her fine motor development, gross motor development, and cognitive development.

Haha, I am a spider too!

After Child J put on the spider clothes, he stretched out his hand and said: “I am the spider. I am coming...” Then he climbed on the web immediately. These would him with his language development, physical development, and cognitive development.

This was my set up for spider art curriculum.

Children were holding pipe cleaners and thinking how to make spiders. They tried and tried with the pipe cleaners. These would help them with their fine motor development and cognitive development.

“Yeah~! I made it, I made it!” said Child J. Child J made a spider by himself. These would help him with his language development, fine motor development, and cognitive development.

“Help please! Help please!” said Child A. He thought for a long time and his friend, Child J, had already finished. He need a little bit help for finishing. These still help him with his language development, fine motor development, and cognitive development.

“Let’s try the web.” said child J. Then the children held their own spiders to “walk” on the drawing web. These would help them with their language development and fine motor development.

These were my set up for spider web art curriculum with color papers and color chalks.Children were eager to draw their own webs with the color chalks. These would help them with their fine motor development and cognitive development.

Child M: “Look, my hands are dirty!” He showed his hands to us after his finished his web. These would help him with his fine motor development and language development.

Child J: “Let’s try your web, spider!” The child put a spider on his drawing and “walk”. This would help him with his language development, cognitive development, and fine motor development.

After everybody finished drawing, I posted their pictures on the wall. That was a way to celebrate their hard working.

We danced as spiders. We moved our arms and legs by imagining how do spiders walk and dance. This progress would help the children with gross motor development, cognitive development and social development. Music

“Can spider dance in one leg?” said child R. Then he stood in one leg. This progress would help the child with gross motor development, cognitive development and language development.

Child J: “Let’s hold hands. Then we could have more legs.”said child J. He held the other children’s hands and danced together. This progress would help the children with gross motor development, cognitive development, language development and social development.

“Look, now we have eight legs.”said Child K. Child K and Child D held hands and danced together as a eight-legs spider.This progress would help the children with gross motor development, cognitive development, language development and social development.

We found a real spider on the playground. Children around the slide to get a great spot for watching the spider.

We watched how it walked with eight legs. This would help our children with their cognitive development.

“Look, the spider is clumping up!” said Child M. This progress would help our children with cognitive development and language development.

“Come here, spider. I can sent you home.”said Child A. He was holding a shovel beside the spider and wanted to bring the spider to its “home”. It could tell that the child wanted to get along with the spider. He wanted to help. This progress would help the child with gross motor development, cognitive development, language development and social development.

“Look! This is the spider’s home.” said Child E. We found a toy with a small web which made by a real spider. This would help the child with cognitive development and language development.

The spider made his web in front of us. We watched how it made its web and talked about it.This progress would help the children with their cognitive development and language development.

This is my whole panel for all the spider curriculum. I posted it on the hallway so that children and parents can easily read it.

Children were very excited to read the panel and talked about it. This would help the children with their language development and social development.

These are what the children learn from those spider curriculum. Base on this learning web, we get future directions----Children were interested in insect that can fly.

Future Experience

This was the book that I brought to the childcare centre and read the story about where do a caterpillar comes from and how does she become a butterfly. This would help the children with their cognitive development.

Future Experience

This was the picture that I showed to the children after we finished the story. This picture would help the children understand easily of the progress from a caterpillar to a butterfly. Then we talked about it and reviewed the story.This would help the children with their cognitive development and language development.
