Cinematography

The music video opens with a close up of a female character shown to be staring at a teddy bear. It then cuts to a gradual close up of the teddy bear which implies that she has some form of connection with it which is later shown in the next shot where we see a cross fade of past memories relating to the teddy bear.

The artist is also introduced in a mid shot lip-syncing. Close ups and extreme close ups of her face are used to add emotion to match the lyrics ‘misplaced, misunderstood’.

Furthermore, the audience are able to identity that she is narrating a journey of her life through the music video as we continue to see more cross fades of one main female character. We first see the character as a little girl however through the cross fades she progresses in age. Cross fades are a typical way of showing the passing of time.

Settings and Props

The characters used throughout the music videos have are dressed and styled in order to create stereotypical characters.

Children: Casual clothing in a school environment with several other school kids around them. Props such as teddy bears and typical school lunch benches are used to reinforce this.

Teacher: Glasses, cardigan, skirt. Telling off child portrays typical teacher.

Teenager: We are introduced to the teenage girl being told off by her mum, which is how most teenagers are viewed as getting into trouble by their parents. She is also going through the faze of wearing make bold up and having an odd teenager fashion sense.

Locations

Throughout the music video, there are many locations which are used as we see flashbacks. These are projected onto the walls of an empty room pink is stood in lip syncing. Locations of flashbacks include: School playground School nursery Bedroom of teenager Secondary school playground Classroom Lockers Clothes store Bathroom Club

Editing

The music video follows a very simple style of editing a there are only transitions and filters used. The use of filters creates an ages look to the clip connoting that this is a flashback.

Furthermore, cross fades are used to create passing of time as clips go from flash-to-flashback.
