  • Summer 2004 Nine public libraries gathered to form a consortium to purchase OverDrive eBooks & audio eBooks.
  • Each put in $1000 for an initial group purchase.

  • Spring 2009 ~ Twenty-six public libraries are consortium members whose patrons access:
    • eBooks (Adobe & MobiPocket formats)
    • Audio eBooks (WMA & MP3 formats)
    • eVideos
    • eMusic ??

    • Adobe PDFfor computers or portable devices such as PDAs.
    • MobiPocket Readerfor pcs, tablet pcs, laptops, and PDAs.
    • EPUBformat coming soon available for all of the above PLUS Sony Reader PRS-700 and PRS-505. (Offers reflowable text and interactive graphics.)

8. Services To Our Patrons

  • Audio eBooks
    • WMA(Windows Media Audio) Audiobooks for pcs and compatible MP3 players & smart phones.
      • Some may be burned to CDs.
      • Single copy books as well as always available titles.
    • MP3Audiobooks for pcs, Macs, MP3 players including iPods & smart phones including iPhones.
      • Single copy books only.

9. Services To Our Patrons ~

  • eVideos
    • Over 300 PBS television titles.
    • Always available.
    • May be downloaded to a pc, tablet pc, laptop, or WMV compatible portable device.

10. How Does It Work?

  • Users download free software at web site.
  • Patrons use their library cards to check out or reserve materials.
  • Maximum of 10 titles may be checked out at any 1 time.
  • eVideos go out for 7 days.All others are 14 day loan.
  • Automatically returned after due date.Delete file manually.

11. Fast Stats

  • As of July 2008:
    • 3802Titlespurchased for collection
      • Adobe Reader 1430, Mobipocket: 337, WMA audiobooks: 2035(309 MP3 audiobooks now purchased)
    • 5255Copiespurchased for collection
    • 50 titles of always available WMA audiobooks (subscription)
    • 313 always available PBS eVideos (subscription)
