General Description.Mitosis is the fourth stage of the cell cycle.
Includes the processes mitosis and
cytokinesis. During mitosis, the cell’s nucleus and its
contents divide. The nuclear membrane
dissolves, the duplicated DNA condenses
around the proteins and separates, and two
new nuclei form. During cytokinesis, the cells cytoplasm
divides, resulting in two daughter cells
genetically identical to the original cell.

The longest stage of a cells life. Produces all
materials required for growth. Preparation for
division also occurs. During this phase the cell
continues to grow. Functions of the cell are being
carried out in the cell. Chromatin is uncoiled and the
nuclear membrane can be visible as long with the
nucleolus.
Pro
phase
In this stage, the chromosomes (DNA) in
the cell become visible, and duplicate.
Spindle fibres start to form. While this
happens the nucleolus dissolves. The
nuclear membrane breaks apart.
Late
Pro
phase
Spindle fibres have now completed
forming. Those fibres attach to the
centromeres, while this happens the
nucleus has disolved..
Meta
phase
In this stage, the chromosomes get
tugged by the spindle fibres into a
horizontal straight line. The nuclear
membrane is completely gone. The
DNA chromosomes get lined up.
Anaphase
In this stage, the spindle fibres pull apart the
chromosomes. In result, half of each
chromosomes is on the opposite side of the cell.
Telo
phase
During this stage, the nucleus and
membrane begins to form. The
nucleolus is visible. The spindle fibres
start to dissolve. And two daughter cells
are connected.
Cyto
kin
esis
This is the final stage of the cell cycle.
During this stage, the two nuclei
separate into two individual daughter
cells, with separate nucleus and DNA.
