We needed to ensure to keep the same style of the artist…

but we wanted to sue this as an opportunity to really sell him to multiple audiences by conveying different aspects of his character making him seem like someone that everyone can connect with in some way.

throughout as his image needed to be consistent so that he could be established and well recognized by the audience

Keeping continuity through our music video, CD album and magazine advert was essential to do as all three products had to connect.

Characterization

Having constructed our star, making print tasks was an opportunity to relate to a wider audience, as different images would connect with different audiences. We tried to attract a wider audience and this was done using different actions, poses and gestures throughout the images and video to convey different attributes of his character.

For example, in the music video the artist is shown to be a passionate and romantic guy through his acts in the narrative. This was a relatively easy task as the song was a romantic song and the gestures matched the music easily.

The magazine advert shows the artist standing, leaning against the wall while pulling his braces apart; this may present a relaxed natural character.

He is also looking directly at the camera and having his hands apart may suggest an inviting gesture towards the audience making him a bit cheeky and likeable by the audience.

The back cover consist of the artist again pulling his braces off his shoulder, this may be a sense of seductiveness even though he is fully dressed, it may imply that he is about to get undressed, and this may attract the female (target) audience.

Characterization

CharacterizationIn the CD album the front cover was of the artist looking away from the camera, while he is resting on his closed fists, this may connote a sense of mystery have the audience wanting to find out more about him, this also conveys him as a mysterious and serious character.

The right inside cover shows the artist in 4 pictures with his hat landing on his head, this may indicate a fun, playful character. And lastly the left inside cover shows a normal mid shot of the artist again looking directly at the camera, showing confident and maturity.

Costume & PropsThroughout the CD-Album and Magazine Advert, we kept the same costume and props.

This consisted of a white shirt, tweed trousers, straw hat with a matching braces.

The costume between the print tasks and music videos linked together as we ensured to keep the hat included throughout as an iconic item (prop).

The general style of being smart and casual was used in both music video and print tasks which linked them two together. The artist was seen wearing Shirts, braces, formal trousers, chinos and formal shoes

Special EffectSketch

We also ensured to keep the theme of the sketch effect continued through the music video and the print tasks, although there was a risk of going over the top. But I believe we managed to link the two products together successfully without losing the purpose and uniqueness of each form.

This was done as the sketch effect was only used on the magazine advert other than the music video.

We decided to present the artist as if he was turning from a sketch and coming into reality as we did in the music video, and this was done by having half the body sketched, while keeping the other half in colour.

Special EffectSketch

As for the music video we limited ourselves and made sure that there wasn’t too many sketch effects used. This was done by making sure that there was only three points where it was used.

Two of the sketches was used at the beginning as introducing the story as a sketch story. (sketches coming to reality

Our third point was at the end , reminding our audience that the story was sketched. (Reality turning back to sketch)

Font As for the font between the print tasks, they are all linked, as we wanted it to be contestant. This was done by limiting the font to two different styles.

However as for the music video, there was only one point where we included

text. And the font used was not the same as the print task, the reason for

this was because we thought using the font that we used, suited the music

video and helped the introductory of the artist, song and the sketch theme

as it is seen on a piece of paper, in pencil written font.

As well as this, the font used all matched the character we constructed and presented to the audience. For example, the font used for the name was both cheeky and bold which may be a description of the artist. Also ‘Three Little Words’ matches the serious and sophisticated character.

ColourAs for the colour in the print tasks, we kept a clear continuity.

We ensured to keep the colour of the background the same. It was a neutral plain cream colour

The costume also matched the colour theme as there were white, brown and black, which would also be described as natural colours.

There wasn’t a use of bright flashy colours, and we purposely avoided this as we thought that it doesn’t fit the constructed artist.

Summary

I believe we managed to successfully link all three products as there was a clear use of continuity using, characterization, costume/props, special effects, fonts and colours. There were similar conventions used to help the identity of the artist and as being part of one product.

It was however difficult because they are all different forms, so matching a video with print was quite challenging as in the print there was a limitation to a few images.

Also it was challenging to ensure they all looked unique and but the same images was not used yet keep some form of continuity
