Cesar Chavez became a major icon for the Latino community. He was confident, caring, nice, and,
helpful. He did a lot to help us. I tell you more about him. Like his childhood to adulthood, achievements
obstacles he had to concer, and some facts.
Childhood and adulthoodCesar Chavez was born on March 31,
1927, he was one of 6 kids, he had two sisters and two brothers. He was
named after he grandpa. As a kid, he worked at farms and moved a lot, he
attended numerous schools. When he was in 7th grade, he quit school
because he didn't want his mother to work in the fields. When he turned 17,
he served 2 years in the Navy. He said, " that was the worst two years of his life." When he returned, he married
his high school sweetheart, Helen Fabela. Soon, he had 8 kids with her.
Achievements & Challenges
As we all know, Cesar Chavez is a Latino American civil rights activist. Cesar
Chavez worked in the fields until 1952. When he became an organizer for the Community Service Organization also known as the CSO, a Latino civil rights
group. Chavez urged Mexican Americans to register and vote. He traveled
throughout California and made speeches in support of workers rights. He later
became CSO's national director in 1958. He was the co- founder of the National Farm Worker Association. By the late 1970s his tactics forced growers to
recognize the UFW. He did have some challenges like he had to quit school when
he was in 7th grade, lost his home, and had to move a lot.

Cesar. He got his own day called Cesar Chavez Day it is on March 31 his birthday this is celebrated
in California, Colorado, and Texas. This holiday is intended to
promote service to the community in honor of Chavez's life and work.
Texas also recognizes the day, and it is an optional holiday in
Arizona and Colorado. His religion is Roman Catholic. He was also a
vegan because he believed in animal rights and also his health.
