TALENT/SKILLS GAP

Part of the Problem

Just 2/3 of Americans

believe the U.S.

manufacturing industry

can compete effectively in

the global marketplace.

Less than 1/2 believe a

manufacturing career is

stable and secure.

80% believe

manufacturing jobs are

the first to be moved to

other countries.

Only 1/3 of Americans

say they would

encourage their children

to pursue careers in

manufacturing.

Only 450 out of 20,000

Minnesota high school

students select

manufacturing as a

career of interest– 2%.

During the 2012

manufacturing listening

sessions, concern about the

image of manufacturing

was mentioned 76 times.

• Vision-- a 21st Century
