Republic of the Philippines Department of Science and Technology Philippine Science High School Main Campus Agham Road, Diliman, Quezon City

JS Prom Primer for Parents and Students A. What time do I bring and pick up my child at Wack-Wack?

Registration shall start at 5 pm so please come on time to allow for registration, picture-taking and seating.

The program shall start at 6:30 pm and end promptly at 12 midnight.

B. Where do I drop off and pick up my child?

Parents will be allowed to drop-off and pick up their children at the driveway of the venue or at the PSHS campus (see Item C). The vicinity map and car passes, together with the invitations, were distributed to the students last Monday.

Parents need to sign the PERMIT AND WAIVER slip that was issued to the children last week. The waiver will indicate the parents' choice of pick up points for their children. If you still don't have copy of the waiver, please ask your respective parent rep or class adviser.

C. What if we have no transportation, will the school provide any? How do we avail of this?

A shuttle service from the PSHS campus shall be provided to ferry the students to and from the venue. The first trip to Wack-Wack shall leave at 3:00 PM, while the first trip back to PSHS Campus leaves at 11:45 pm.

All students availing of the shuttle service need to register with Sir Nat on or before Feb. 4, 2011.

D. Can I wait for my child at the venue? Will I be allowed inside the pavilion to take pictures of my child?

Parents (except for those who are attending in an official capacity) will not be allowed inside the pavilion.

Parents will not be allowed to enter the pavilion to take pictures. Official photographers will be present to document the event. Orders will be taken after the event (in Pisay).

In deference to the Club members who are using the other facilities of the venue, crowds are disallowed from loitering in the premises during the entire duration of the prom.

E. What attire is required for my child?

Attire for the evening is strictly formal, but note that the theme of the Prom is Venice.

Please read the PSHS Student’s Handbook (pages 31-32) for reference on prohibited outfit.

F. Are the children required to have a date? Are they allowed to bring dates from other schools?

The children are encouraged but are not required to come with a date. However, the date must be a PSHS Batch 2011 or

2012 student. Due to this restriction, not all boys can have dates as the boys outnumber the girls at PSHS.

G. Any special rules for the event?

Since the Prom is an official school activity, the school rules and regulations apply.

Smoking and drinking alcoholic beverages are strictly prohibited for students in the ballroom or in any place around Wack- Wack.

Students are restricted to the pavilion. They shall not be allowed to loiter around the premises even if they are members of Wack-Wack or in the company of a member.

H. What does my child need to bring to the Prom?

Students are discouraged from bringing too many valuables to the Prom as they might need to leave these on the table when they dance.

The school policy on bringing electronic devices will be followed with the EXCEPTION of digital cameras.

STUDENTS MUST ALWAYS BE RESPONSIBLE FOR THEIR VALUABLES; FROM PAST JS PROMS, THERE WERE INCIDENTS OF LOSSES. The organizers shall not be held liable for any losses.

I. Who makes sure that the children do not wander off or leave the prom site?

A security detail composed of volunteer parents, PSHS guards and Wack-Wack Club guards shall constantly monitor the area to ensure strict compliance to the rules.

PSHS guards will be detailed at the entrances and exits of the venue; unauthorized people will not be allowed to enter.

No student will be allowed to leave the site prior to the official end of the activity.

Any parent wishing to fetch their child before the official end of the activity needs to submit a letter to the Batch Adviser Sir Nat on or before Feb. 4, indicating this. Efforts should be taken to ensure that the said student is being fetched by a parent or their designated representative (as indicated in the letter).

J. Will the students be forbidden from going to other locations after the prom ends?

The Prom ends exactly at 12 midnight. After the end of the Prom, the parents shall be responsible for the whereabouts of their own children. The school and the Prom organizers will not take any responsibility for the children after they sign out

and leave Wack-Wack. All students should be picked up at the venue or in Pisay by 1:00 AM. Prepared in consultation with the Batch Council: Approved by: Noted by: (Sgd.) (Sgd.) (Sgd.)
