The Impact Week is an initiative of KiA (Kirche in Aktion), an organization based in Frankfurt, that stands for a non-denominational christian attitude. The organization does projects all over the world that aim on making the people‘s life a better life, by offering support hands on, by sharing knowledge and experiences in required areas, by making people simply laughing, .. by „bringing a piece on heaven onto the earth“.

WHAT IS THE IMPACT WEEK?

The Kenyan economy is growing. The Start Up Scene is evolving.

But still, nearly half of the country's 43 million people live below the poverty line or unable to meet their daily nutritional requirements. So is Nairobi.

Kibera (Nairobi’s largest slum) is the largest urban slum in Africa.

Unemployment, poverty, corruption, violence, lacking education and diseases are still huge problems in Kenya’s society.

Students in Kenya show high motivation to change things. They are often missing a structural approach in studying and forming ideas.

Economical thinking, business driven approaches, strategic development and the belief in their selves is often not learned.

Background The idea

Bring entrepreneurial thinking, methodologies and tools to Kenya. Use Design Thinking approaches.

Support students in creating businesses.

Support Kenya in creating work for their country.

Because:

“ Nobody can design solutions for Africa, except for us.” (Marc Kamau, iHub)

Why I did that?

Because I was always interested in foreign cultures, countries, peoples and the different ways of living within the different parts of the world.

Because I am always looking out for opportunities in which I can spend what I have learned so far in fields that can really appreciate from it.

Because common development aid projects have either not convinced myself or the fine line between what I am able to give and what is needed was rarely balanced out so well as within this opportunity.

Why McCann Worldgroup?

Because we needed sponsors to enable on-site organization and awards. Thankfully I could convince MRM//McCann to commit to a sponsorship!

THANK YOU.
