1. Idea Generation Having carefully planned out my idea for my
music video, I have generated a complete idea of what I feel the
video will look like as well as coming up with ideas for the final
editing stage. My video will be a conceptual piece with an
enigmatic narrative surrounding the lyrics of the song I have
chosen, which is 'Even In Death' by gothic metal band, Evanescence.
The lyrics of the song are about a woman who loses her husband and,
in her denial and grief, goes to the graveyard and digs up his body
to take it home, reuniting her with her one true love. All goes
well after she digs up the body and she is once again happy until
the body begins to decay, leaving her to have to accept the death
of her husband and move on as he slowly slips out of her life and
his image fades. My video will use various sequences to tie in with
these lyrics, with connotations to his death and her denial
throughout. The lyrics are as follows: Give me a reason to believe
that you're gone I see your shadow, so I know they're all wrong
Moonlight on the soft brown earth It leads me to where you lay They
took you away from me but now I'm taking you home I will stay
forever here with you, my love The softly spoken words you gave me
Even in death, our love goes on Some say I'm crazy for my love, oh,
my love But no bonds can hold me from your side, oh, my love They
don't know you can't leave me They don't hear you singing to me I
will stay forever here with you, my love The softly spoken words
you gave me Even in death our love goes on And I can't love you
anymore than I do I will stay forever here with you, my love The
softly spoken words you gave me Even in death our love goes on And
I can't love you anymore than I do (People die but real love is
forever) The video will begin in a graveyard location and end in a
woodland area, with there being a lot of long takes and slow motion
shots, including many running shots to show her denial as she tries
to evade the problem. The forest setting also includes connotations
to the death of her husband. The video will be edited into entirely
in black and white to add a more gothic tone to the entire video,
with transitions between the clips.
