Summary #2 What is most appealing about iMovie, according to

this article, is the fact that it is so diverse. When ateacher created an iMovie of a pond which featuredanimals and plants that live around the pond. Insteadof looking in boring textbooks, this tool allows thepictures to come a live and gives the students a feelingof being at that pond and may give a better grip on thetopic being discussed.

Personal Reflection One of the things I found interesting and proves that

iMovie can have an important impact on the learningprocess of your children. Sierra, a seven year old, wason summer break before third grade. She had beenstruggling with her fractions. Dr. Rebecca Ambroseintroduced iMovie videos to help guide her along theprocess of learning the material.

iMovie lets students focus on content, not videography

One of the major fears of using this tool in theclassroom is the belief that students will focus onmaking the video instead of learning the materialinvolved. This article goes on the prove that this is notthe case. This video shows that it is possible to createan impressive or satisfactory movie and nail all theeducational points at the same time.

Summary #2 Chris Dawson, the creator of the article, feels the bets

part of about iMovie is that the process of creating the project is the prime focus because the editing tools are incredibly easy to do.

He feels that Apple has done such a great job with this tool, he hopes that the company can come out with a better calculator that can help students pick up better mathematical skills.

Personal Reflection This article defends the fact that iMovie is a great tool

for the classroom and does not distract the studentfrom the tasks at hand. Since editing and formattingare incredibly easy to use with iMovie, excellent workis easy to do and allows a student’s imagination to runwild without it hurting his or her grade. I can not waitto install this tool into my classroom.

English with an Edge Teachers & Technology: English with an Edge : May

2008 : THE Journal

An article about Andie Brown, an English teacher fromParkway South High School, who is pictured below. She used iMovie in her classroom. She noticed that allher students participated, even the students who didnot join in on projects earlier in the year. A tool likethis allows students to direct their own creations andputs them in charge. Every teenager craves theopportunity to be in charge.

Summary #2 Mrs. Brown even created her version of the Academy

awards. For example, she had an award for most Administratively Offensive and Best Recovery. Thinking outside the box is what interests young students. They do not want to sit down all day and be lectured about something they can find out in a book. Students want creativeness and that is what iMovie is!

Personal Reflection I know some of us had this article in an assignment

earlier in the year, but I was a big fan of this article. Itproves that some teachers do not reach their fullpotential out of fear of what their superiors might feelabout them going to a more technological tool, insteadof the boring textbook. A major reason why principalsfear technology because when thinkingtechnology, expensive comes to mind. This is a cheapand great tool for students to use and believe me mystudents will!

Conclusion iMovie is an extremely interactive tool and should be

used more frequently throughout schools in thiscountry. We have new technologies that could furthereducate the youth of today, yet we hold back on usingthem. Why? Why punish the students by deprivingthem of this great method? It is ludicrous to do such athing. Thank God we have teachers like Andie Brownwho do use tools like iMovie to further educate herstudents.
