Today’s Agenda
What is the STaR Chart anyway?
How did we do?
What does this mean for me and for our campus?
The School Technology and Readiness (STaR) Chart The STaR Chart is a tool designed to by the
State to determine a school’s progress towards meeting the goals of the Texas Long-Range Plan for Technology.
It helps teachers determine their progress toward meeting the Long-Range Plan and District Goals.
It helps establish a framework for measuring how well teachers are prepared to equip students with technology and skills.
The Key Areas
There are four key areas assessed in the STaR Chart:Key Area I: Teaching and LearningKey Area II: Educator Preparation and
DevelopmentKey Area III: Leadership, Administration
and Instructional SupportKey Area IV: Infrastructure for
Technology
Classifications
There are four classifications/levels of progress:Early TechDeveloping TechAdvanced TechTarget Tech
What does a classification really mean?
Early Tech – this means that teachers primarily use technology to supplement instruction (usually with no connections to content objectives).
Developing Tech- this means that teachers primarily use technology to direct instruction and to support content objectives.
Advanced Tech - this means that teachers use technology in teacher led and some student- centered learning experiences and incorporate technology in their subject area TEKS.
Target Tech- this means that teachers seamlessly integrate technology in a student-centered learning environment where technology is used to solve real world problems.

Campus Goal As a Campus we promote meaningful use
of technology.
We as individuals must commit ourselves to a culture of learning and technology usage.
We as instructional leaders must commit ourselves and resources to provide our teachers with what they need to succeed.
