How I Made My Magazine Cover
Layers
I created my magazine
cover on Macromedia
Fireworks and I usednumerous layers to
getall of the differentelements in the
image(similar to the way I
mademy poster)
First Layer
This is the background picture I used for my magazine cover, I chose this picture because there isn’t anything too distracting in it – there isn’t a clear centre of focus.
Second Layer
Next I placed a picture of the main character on top and added the title of the magazine – ‘CINE-NEWS’. I came up with my own title as I thought this was better than using a pre-existing magazine title such as ‘Empire’. When I put the picture of Lizzie (main character) over the background image I decided that the background image was too bright and was distracting so I edited the saturation to dull the colours down.
Third Layer
I then added a silver box at the bottom of the magazine cover where I could put all of the information about other articles in the magazine.
Fourth Layer
Next I chose two popular recent films to advertise in my magazine – “The Woman In Black” and “The Hunger Games”. I got the images off of the internet and made up different articles for them.
Fifth Layer
I then typed up the title and the tagline for our trailer in the same font I used on my poster. I also added the text – “Reviews inside for the upcoming blockbuster” to generate more interest in our trailer and to encourage people to buy the magazine.
Final Layer
Finally I create a barcode using this website and copied it onto my magazine cover. I also added the issue number and the cost of the magazine.
