IntroductionEducational reform: Teacher CPD is

key to quality.Context: Supervisors are getting

fewer. Too many teachers to supervise. More time for administrative and evaluative tasks. Less time is left for continuing professional development (CPD). Limited quality CPD.

Hypothesis: ICT can help supervisors in planning, managing and delivering quality CPD.

Key question: How can ICT help in CPD? Are there any practical experiences to learn from in our immediate context?

2. More roles for teachers, new roles for supervisors

2.1. The current situation/context of supervision calls for a new perspective of supervision (new approaches, new solutions).

Teacher: responsible for one’s own CPD (shared responsibility, mutual accountability, shifted leadership), action planner, collaborator, active contributor

Supervisor: facilitator, guide, project manager

ICT tools support these new roles, perspectives and framework.

"… when teachers are given the time and tools to collaborate they become life-long learners, their instructional practice improves, and they are ultimately able to increase student achievement far beyond what any of them could accomplish alone.“

(Thomas G. Carroll et al (Editors), June 2010.
