What is a Facebook Page?

1st – Pages mainly used by businesses wanting social media exposure

THEN –

All Interests, Activities and other information on Profiles became Pages

And people could create Community Pages

What is a Facebook Page and why I chose to use one?

• essentially like a Facebook Profile• no need to ‘friend’ others – users connect though the Like button• a Page gives you a space away from your Profile• BUT can you blog?

TASK > What is a blog for?

Writing

Notes

• Simple to write• WYSIWYG• Images can be inserted into Notes

Page 7: Getting some facebook time with your colleagues

ImagesPhotos

• Page Admins can create photo albums• FB users who ‘like’ the Page can also add photos

Page 8: Getting some facebook time with your colleagues

Discussions

• much like Discussions in Groups on FB• easy to set up and reply

Page 9: Getting some facebook time with your colleagues

Pros / Cons• familiarity – if you are au fait with FB in general, running a Page is simple• can be easy to build a following/community• retain privacy – don’t have to ‘friend’ people to share

• familiarity – people might see FB as friends and family only, not work• can be difficult to build a following – like any social media• simplicity means FB Pages are not as sophisticated as blogs
