SYNOPSIS
- FMB&T is stand for Fort Madison Bank & Trust Co.- A growing commercial and consumer retail bank based in California.- It is also a traditional organizational with a vertical structure.

*AYISHIA SEND AN EMAIL TO MARSHALL PINKARD AND TOLD THAT THE USED OF IT IN COMPANY CAN MAKE THE COMPANY MORE SUCESSFUL
*RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN IT DEPARTMENT & OTHER BANK BUSINESS IS MIXED UP
*THERE IS ALSO HAVE CONFLICT BETWEEN IT DEPARTMENTS & OTHER UNIT:
1) UNIT MANAGERS DID NOT WELCOME AYISHIA EFFORTS
2) THE WORK UNITS STILL EXPECTED IT TO COME UP WITH A SOLUTION QUICKLY.
*IT STAFF ALSO HAVE LIMITED RESPONSIBILITIES WHERE THEY ONLY USE IT TO APPLICATION WORKS
PROBLEM STATEMENT: AYISHIA, THE NEW EXECUTIVE VICE PRESIDENT AND CHIEF INFORMATION OFFICER (CIO) FACED THE PROBLEM THAT WAS NO CLEAR RESPONSIBILITIES AND AUTHORITY.
QUESTION 1: WHAT ARE THE MAIN
ORGANIZATIONAL CAUSES OF FRUSTRATION THAT AYISHIA
COLES FEELS?
1) AYISHIA FEELS THAT HER RESPONSIBILITIES AND AUTHORITY ARE
UNCLEAR
2) IT STAFF WAS INCRESINGLY
FEELING UNDERUSED
3)POORLY DEFINED PROBLEMS
4) VAGUENESS OF THEIR REQUEST
QUESTION 2:If you were Marshall Pinkard, how would you address both Ayishia’s request for clarification about her authority and responsibilities and the underlying problem her email bring to his attention? Can the problems be addressed with minor adjustment, or would you need to consider a drastic overhaul of the banks organizational structure? What environmental and technological factors would influence your decision?
1) If I were to be Marshal pinkard, I would clarify her authority and her responsibilities based on her request. The way Ayishia saw it, the relationship between IT and the bank’s other business units was mixed up, so she must have some sort of clarification, being the bank’s executive vice president and chief information officer. It would be beneficial for me to re-consider the organizational structure of the company to achieve the desired goal regarding the IT department.
2) The problem might require serious consideration of a drastic renovation or maintanence of the bank’s organisational structure since the IT department plays a major role in the organizational strategy itself, hence affecting the structure of the bank.
3) The environmental and technological factors that would influence my decisions are: 1. Increased difference among departments. 2. Increased coordination is needed. 3. Adaptability 4. IT knowledge 5. Employee skills 6.Work Procedures *The factors that occured in the situation are:1-Disagreement of department2- Lack of coordination3-Being status quo
