Fast and Furious The opening scene of fast and furious immediately draws the audience in with the bright and engaging colours of the high powered cars. As well as introducing the cars it introduces the main characters who are shown within the cars which could suggests their likeness to the cars. The scene builds tension by showing the cars engines and how it prepares for a race. Also it creates a sense of mystery for the audience as there must be a reason for the extreme close up the engine which could be that something will happen to the engine. This also suggests an aspect of danger when a flame is used to represent the power of the engine.

Genre conventions The main focus is on the drivers as everything around them is blurred, this not only shows the speed they’re going but the determination and concentration to win. The worry on there face leaves the audience in anticipation as it suggest something bad is going to happen. Also the shot it a mid shot this way you are able to see the emotion of the actors face, and for the audience to still keep in mind that he is still driving in car and this is shown from what is established around him.

In this screenshot it shows the speed of the cars which links in with the title of “fast and furious” and for anymore that hasn't seen the film before although knows the title of the film, they will immediately relate the title and the film together therefore this opening sequence fits in nicely. The long shot that is used to present the cars is deceiving as they don’t look as fast as they supposedly are going as they are in proportion to eachother. This is done to build tension as it contrasts with the main plot of the story of being ‘fast’, it also shows the closeness of the cars and creates anticipation for what's going to happen. Although the blurred not of the shot does suggest that they are took quick to be seen properly, relating to how fast they're going.

The main characters are mainly introduced in their cars, which show a relation to what time of people they are and primarily what type of film it is especially because the opening scene is a car race. Also in this establishing shot it shows all the cars lined up getting ready to be introduced to the audience, making sure that they relate the actors to what car they have. You can also see in the background the crowd around them which portrays the conventions of support and how serious this is supposedly is. The style of the cars are typical race cars, which would considerably attract the audience as they're very rare and out of the ordinary. The colours of the cars shows their individuality.
