To help me design my own magazine, I conducted a research on different music magazines to get aware of the codes and conventions of a magazine. I have used the same conventions in my magazine. Most music magazine have the name of the magazine behind the cover star, I’ve done the opposite, in this way I have challenged the other music magazines by keeping the cover star behind the mast head.

This is the cover page of my magazine. I’ve edited the background like most music magazines and made it look like white light in the background. I have kept the colour scheme 0f the picture dull to give it a gothic look, since the genre of my magazine is Metal. The Goth look will attract people who like metal and rock.

I think that the cover page of a magazine is the most important thing since It sells the brand, it has to be visually appealing and different from the other cover pages on the newsstand to attract the new readers. On the other hand each new cover must be different from the previous issue but still familiar and recognizable to regular readers. It has to present the publications character and its content. I have challenged and used the conventions of other music magazines to give it an appealing look.
