How has your front cover used these convection?

Looking at the convections of a music magazine, the front cover that I have created have used most of the convections of a typical music magazine. In my front cover I have used: a masthead, main image, cover lines and many more. In the contents page and double page spread I also used the convections of a music magazine with pictures, page numbers, subheadings and many more.

I have used them in this kind of way because it’s the convection of a magazine. Audience will find it easier to identify what genre of magazine this is. This means that indie/rock fans can easily found the magazine that they want. Also the colours that I have used will definitely indicate what genre the magazine is.

Why did you used them in this way?

How has your contents page used these convection? Why did you used them in this way?

In my contents page I have used the convention of a magazine. For example clearly saying this is the contents page. With it I have also wrote the month and year. Not all magazine have month and year in the contents page this is how I challenge the conventions of contents page. In my contents page I have 4 subheadings. Another way I have challenged the convention is by putting the word AUBN. next to the page number. This is like a reminder that this is the music magazine ‘AUBURN’ and is there in every page.

Why did you used them in this way?

How has your double page spread used these convection?

Looking at the conventions of a double page spread I followed the generic conventions. For instance taking one whole page just for the main image. I have used them in this kind of way because through research and planning I found out that this is an incentive to attract customers. A lot of young teenager collect poster and images of their favourite artist to. That’s why using this convention will help me appeal to my target audience. In the other page it will be an article. this is a another convention of a magazine. most double page spread will have an article and I have decide to have a interview.

What are the advantages of using the generic conventions of music magazines?

The advantage of using generic convections means that audience will found it easier to identify the type of magazine they would like to get also they would know quickly what genre it is and that it’s a music magazine. This means that music fans will take a look inside to see if there are any find what they want. Also by using generic conventions I am able to create the magazine without to much problem as I following the generic conventions.

Have you challenged (gone against) any convections of music magazines? How and why?

I have challenged some convections of a music magazine for example in the front cover at the bottom right corner you can see a signature. This is not something that is usually seen in a music magazine but I have challenged the generic convection of a music magazine. The signature is a brand recognition (logo) of the magazine. This means that when you see this the audience are able to recognise what magazine this is. I have done this because I wanted something that is simple and easily recognisable for the audience to remember.

Have you develop (adapted) any convections of music magazines? How and why?

Generic conventions of an indie/rock magazine are media long shot, dark colours and some bright colours. There are a lot of, black, white, red and many more. Also the front cover is quite pack and there’s a lot of cover lines and plugs/tag line. In my front cover I have used a long shot and quite a lot of cover lines. I have challenged these conventions because the long shot really suits it and also I feel that long shots are quite good to use. It also makes it look different to the other music magazine. In my front cover I have use the colour scheme, dark red, black and white. I have developed some conventions for example in my front cover I have a + sign. This is not necessary however I like it and it helps fill the page up and also look quite good with the cover line.I have conformed to these conventions because these conventions enable the audience to found out that it is an indie/rock magazine. Overall there hasn’t been many develop to any conventions.
