Kenya Bell Question 4: Who would be the audience for your media product? The media product we created is aimed at the gender males because our film is male dominated. Which means that men will connect with the characters more than females will. An example out of our media text would be when Tony is holding his glass manly. There is a connotation linked with the colour red, which is death, so this links to the audience as it is giving the audience an idea of what could happen in the rest of the film. The fact that Tony is drinking wine shows that he is part of the upper class, showing he is a powerful figure within our film. Bugsy Malone is one movie that is similar to our film in the way it has adapted its pops and movie to make sure younger views can watch the movie. One way it makes its film suitable for a younger audience is by using a younger cast to act in the movie. We have done exactly the same thing as we are aiming our film at 15 year olds, so we chose to use a cast that was mainly 16 years old and over. (Show an image of Mathew and Dan as the 16 year olds in the film) Another way the film Bugsy Malone has changed to suit the audience was by changing the props so that the children did not see any violence or blood. So instead of using bullets they used pies to shot the children they wanted to die in the film. We did a similar thing by making sure our audience only seen the appropriate content with not gore or an over use of too much blood. For the murder scene we made sure the audience did not see Tony actually get shot as that would intently make our film for an older audience. Instead we implied that Tony had been shot with the sound of the gun being loaded and shot (Play the clip when the gun shot happens) Casino Royale can be compared to our media product because the film is hugely centered on gambling and drinking (Show a clip of a scene from Casino Royale where they are drinking) We can relate this to ours because we have included pieces of furniture i.e. a pool table which would be found in places where people gamble and drink.(Show a clip of the characters playing pool) Also throughout the scene where the gang is visible we show them drinking alcohol or we imply they will drink the alcohol with the presence of it in the opening sequence. Casino Royale is aimed at males who are 18 to 35 in age or people who are fans of Bourne films.

Question 4: Who would be the audience for your media product?

(Show an image of Mathew and Dan as the 16 year olds in the film)

Another way the film Bugsy Malone has changed to suit the audience was by changing the props so that the children did not see any violence or blood. Instead we implied that Tony had been shot with the sound of the gun being loaded and shot (Play the clip when the gun shot happens)

Casino Royale can be compared to our media product because the film is hugely centered on gambling and drinking (Show a clip of a scene from Casino Royale where they are drinking) We can relate this to ours because we have included pieces of furniture i.e. a pool table which would be found in places where people gamble and drink.(Show a clip of the characters playing pool)

Also throughout the scene where the gang is visible we show them drinking alcohol or we imply they will drink the alcohol with the presence of it in the opening sequence. Casino Royale is aimed at males who are 18 to 35 in age or people who are fans of Bourne films. Now our noir film is aimed at younger people but the audience who have seen a film me or Mathew have directed and put together before will know our new movie will be good and will therefore watch it.(Show the end credits of the two prelim videos we have been in )

In Sunset Blvd there is a similar scene to our media product because within the opening sequence, Sunset Blvd shows the murder victim dead in the place it happened. This would mean we would attract the same audience who watched Sunset Blvd because they would understand flashbacks and that death must happen in a noir film.

The media product we created can also have a specific audience such as people who mainly watch noir films; this means they will understand what the characters are saying within our film. (Show a clip of Tony saying the line about sleeping with the fishes) An audience who understands these terms will of course be older, however our product is not aimed at just them.

We made sure we used some terms from the 1950’s to make sure the film flowed right, but we also used modern day speaking in ur media product. This may have made the film seem unprofessional but we used actors that could speak an America accent because traditionally

noir films would be set in America in the 1950’s. Using modern day language made sure a modern audience would be able to understand what the characters where saying throughout their dialogue.

The actors we used can also draw in a wider audience such as Jack Waterman aka Tony Pensiero is a very well know actor from around the UK; therefore his audience will follow him through our film (Show a short clip of Jack being surrounded by his fans) We chose Waterman specifically, because this is not normally the types of films he works with so his audience will finally watch a noir film because he is in it. This will mean they will be educated about what a noir film is and will watch our film all the way through. Because all of Jacks audience knows he is a great actor they will find it interesting to see which films he appears in next, meaning we have a bigger audience for our noir film, Snake in the Grass.
