‘‘NO ONE EVER BELIEVED IN ME THAT’S WHAT MADE ME MORE DETERMINED!’’ Over the past 6 months, Vienna has been very busy getting to grips with the life of stardom, she debuted her very own single which shot to the top spot. Replay caught up with the star to get her thoughts on her new found fame and success in the music industry. We discuss her shockingly unsupportive family life, also her idea behind her brilliant debut pop song. Thank you for taking the time and talking to Replay. How are you feeling about being named ‘the new face in pop’? Hello, I am feeling completely overwhelmed, I am so honoured to have the support by so many people which gives me so much confidence and motivation to live up to the title which has been given to me. I really hope people believe in me as it is something I have always wanted from my own family. How is the support from your family at the moment com- pared to when you were just starting your music career? The support from my family will never change. I have never been guided, encouraged or even praised for any of my musical efforts ever since I was young. I remember begging my mother and father to let me audition for gigs, competitions or even karaoke contests, they were always dismissive. No one ever believed in me, if anything this only made me more determined to prove them wrong, and now I have. Where did you determination come from? I have always been a determined person as I have always wanted to make my family proud, something which I have accept- ed will never happen. My inspiration came from an event which happened to me: when I was 12 years old and my parents told me I would never make it as a singer, I had a dream. I was on stage with bright lights, and thousands of people were screaming my name. That’s when I knew, I was born to be a star! Did this event also inspire your debut song, ‘I’m dreaming’? Yes, it did. I really wanted to incorporate something into the song which had meaning to me and my story. I sat down with my manager and music producer and I told them the story and the idea of the song and they both helped me to alter and tweak the song to perfection. I am so happy with the outcome of it and the response of the fans. It has opened up so many opportunities. I am currently writing new songs with my close friend and music producer, I hope they will all have the same support from the fans. You say you are writing new songs, do you ever stop and take a break? At the moment no, I really want to complete the songs so I can make an album, then I am planning to tour, I am so busy lately, if I have 4 hours to myself I consider this a break! This is my dream, and i still can’t believe its happening, so i like to cherish every moment and put everything i have in to everything. I have also been offered a gig a top music festival in the summer so I am preparing for that. I am practicing on my vocals, trying costumes and taking dance lessons. I like to keep busy and focussed on music, I am very work-orientated. I just want the best in life for myself and for the future. I am finally earning enough money to provide for myself and I am delighted with my independency, I am making it and am doing it on my own. Are you planning on shooting any music videos as well as writing songs? I am hoping to release at least 2 other songs from the album I am working on, which will include a music videos. I like to be inspired by events that happen in my life, I be- lieve these make the best and most successful pop songs. I like music videos in exotic locations such as the style of Taylor Swift, who has been one of the biggest inspirations to my music. I have always admired her music style, and work ethic and i would love to work with her in the future. However I am not at that profile just yet to have extravagant videos, and my manager will have the overall say on budget and expenses. How did you first feel when completing your music video for ‘I’m dreaming’? Well, at first I was terrified, I had already released the lyric video and it had such a great reception I was very anxious about the video, it was my first ever time making a video for my own music, which made it ten times worse. I was so worried that the fans wouldn’t like it, they are the only reason I am where I am today, and the fans support is all I have. Although, I shouldn’t have been worried the fans have been amazine, and most people loved the video and thought it was very fitting towards to my music, I was so pleased with the final outcome of the video and hope all my videos can be received in the same way. It is clear to say i am very excited for my future. And I am so grateful to my manager. Is the life of fame of a popstar all that you expected? It is defiantly as glamorous as I had hoped, I love getting pampered by professionals for award shows and mag- azines. I think when you have you’ve let the hairdressers style your hair, and the makeup artists to cover the imperfections, it makes you feel more confident within yourself and about your music. When I was younger I had a completely different idea of fame. I thought it would be all positive. I receive so many people telling me that they hate the way I sound, but you just have to have thick skin and accept the fact you cannot please everyone, everyone has different music preferences and mine is definitely pop. I grew up with pop music and have been thoroughly inspired by so many pop stars. I am so pleased with all the people who do actually believe in me and support me. It is surreal when I am just walking down the road and people are running up to me asking me for my autograph, people aspiring to be like me, it is truly amazing. This is something I wish will continue throughout my professional career. ‘‘THE FANS SUPPORT IS ALL I HAVE’’
