Kelsey Haslam Double Page Spread Interview: TheTaylors – New band with a hit single already privilege When did you first discover your love in music? Well, we’re brother and sister so we discovered it at an early age round about the same time. I used to listen to Meg play guitar and write her own songs, until one day she asked me to sing one of her own songs, and we discovered that I had a talent in singing. It all started from there really. When did you start publishing your music and how did you get to where you are now? We began publishing our music on music sharing websites for fun, such as YouTube using our PC at home around 3 years ago. We were completely shocked with the responses we were getting, we were getting thousands of subscribers almost straight away, which made us realise that we might just get somewhere with this. We then started performing at places such as family weddings, where people began to spread the word and we were getting asked to do bigger gigs with a wider audience. It all happened so quick, next thing we knew we were getting called in for radio interviews and then asked to make our own music videos which happened to get noticed by a LOT of people. It’s amazing what social networking sites and music sharing websites can do! We heard you are quite friendly with The 1975, do you hang out with them often? The 1975 had heard of one of our songs and tweeted us on Twitter, which gave us a lot of popularity. We then met them at one of their gigs which we went to, and hung out with them that night. Now we do see them quite a lot, they’re really nice people and they’ve gave us a lot of advice with our music. Who are your musical inspirations? I’d say our musical inspirations are bands such as Oasis and The Smiths. We also got some inspiration off more new artists such as The 1975 and Ed Sheeran and I particularly like Ben Howards music. We get our inspiration of different artists, but we try to make our music our own and unique.

When did you first discover your love in music?

What’s next for you two then?

Well, we’re currently working on our new album, which we haven’t quite thought of a name for yet. This will have our new hit single ‘Fire’ in it, and a few of our other popular songs. Hopefully, it will be released at the end of June. We’re so excited for it, it will be our first album so we are hoping for a good response from it!
