Main aims of the project

Approximation of the European higher education area in agreement with the

Bologna process and recommendations of Berlin Declaration.

Harmonization of higher education and postgraduate education for career guidance in partner countries, joint ECTS, Diploma Supplement.

Innovation of vocational education and training of experts specializing in career guidance with a special emphasize on European dimension aimed at improvement of qualification and adaptability and support of mobility of persons entering labour market.

Improvement of career services in the process of choice of education, specialization and employment with the purpose of increasing employment at labour market with a special view of assisting young people in the integration process.

Widening employment opportunities at the national and European labour market, recognition of qualifications and equal employment opportunities.

Transparency of existing national systems of career counsellors education, to improve the recognition of their qualifications, support of international mobility of students and graduates in the partner countries.

Introduction of new integrated study programmes enabling to achieve recognized joint diploma/Diploma Supplement and innovative module of education programme.

Project partners have:

Long tradition in the field of education of career counsellors,

Long-based experience in introduction of new study and educational programmes not only in their own country but also in Europe,

Long-lasting experience in the field of cooperation in various national and international programmes and projects.

For achievement of the aims all partners worked out:

National and European surveys: The survey of career guidance needs, requirements and demands for CG and performance of career guidance in partner countries. The survey of higher education and VET in CG.

Analysis of higher education of CG. Analysis of differences in content, forms and length and demands for qualification and competences needed for career guidance.

International comparison of higher education for career counsellors based on the above surveys and analysis.

Information on national strategies and trends of economic and social development in partner countries.

1. The employment rate of the population aged 20-64 should increase to 75 percent.

4. The school drop out rate should be reduced to less than 10 per cent and at least 40

per cent of young people should have completed a tertiary or equivalent education.

Career guidance has been gradually changing also due to the changes in the present globalizing society. They bring along new requirements for qualification of career counselors; working environment has been changing too and clients become more diversified. The European Commission considers education of career guidance providers, human resource management and high-quality career guidance and counselling provision among the most important issues to reach the strategic targets of EU in the field of economic and social development. The efficient lifelong guidance within the framework of EU should be supported through European cooperation and partnership between: providers of counseling services, social partners, practitioners in the field of guidance in education and employment, institutions providing education for career counsellors and officer for HRM.

In the present period of economic crisis education and vocational training of specialists providing career guidance services is very important.

In international context the career counsellors are expected to have, particularly:

Knowledge of theories concerning lifelong career development;

Knowledge of management and human resource management;

Respect of cultural diversities, ethic and moral norms;

Social and intercultural sensitivity, respect of gender equality;

Professional approach to problem-solution, utilisation of mediation;

Information on trends and differences in the field of education, training, employment, unemployment and labour market;

Knowledge of legislative and legal norms (on study, work, health, social issues...);

Skills in using ICT in the field of career guidance and counselling in national and international space;

Skills in the field of direct contact with individual clients, groups and members of cooperating networks (literacy in a foreign language);

labour market, human resource management with specializations for 4 target

Professional TERMINOLOGICAL DICTIONARY composed of languages of all

partner countries (CY, EE, ES, HR,DE, PL, SK, UK)

The criteria of quality assessment of education for career guidance and

human resource management (using ECTSm and Diploma Supplement) and a

proposal of quality criteria (in agreement with EU standards) for the study

programmes of higher education and postgraduate education.

The accreditation standards for higher education study programmes and quality

criteria – documents necessary for accreditation of new study programmes and

educational programmes.
