The Process
1. Chunking/Data Mapping (using learning-object principles
2. Add parts of course communicated through verbal delivery
3. Disaggregate visuals (placeholders)
4. Import objects into the repository
5. Mapping to output type
6. Non-linear teamwork (graphic enhancement, video, narration recording, mobile development)
7. Regular, real time reviews and feedback (actual content) – “spiral development”
8. Publish – multiple output formats

Inside “Single Source” DevelopmentStuart – 15 minutes
Organizational Structure (Course, Lessons, objects) Publishing to different formats (quick tour of outputs) Maximizing reuse between instructor guide to eLearning
Visuals from PowerPoint reused directly Some text, (tips, tables, bullet lists) Verbose text to Narration Addition of Audio File
Addition of Glue, interactive exercise (glue exercise) Addition of p-table (discovery exercise in eLearning) Adding Video (later decided this could be used in the
classroom as an option (Wiley example) Reusing test questions from modules (final exam) Modifications across outputs and/or different versions
@xylemelearning #singlesource
mLearning DevelopmentRamon – 5 minutes
Segregation of content for table app development (Pastiche) Read Me (highlight, bookmark, annotate) Show Me (Wiley demo video) Quiz Me Help Me
What elements work well on Smartphone (and which ones may need some re-design)

Lessons Learned
Learning to think modularly (segregate transitional materials – “glue” )
Next time: Considering interactive templates earlier in the process (I teach this….what was I thinking?)
Strengthened my conviction that non-linear, team development works and is so much more efficient vs. traditional development – using specialists
You can get as interactive as you want. The LCMS is simply a staging mechanism for whatever you envision, eliminating redundancy.
I should have done more supervision of the audio narration process to yield even better results
If I can do it, anyone can…and you will be able to be much better than I did by being much more inventive and creative

Lessons Learned – “Selfish”
My mind started spinning about what kinds of opportunities are opened up by having this content in this format:
Blended Learning version of the course, with these modules as the prerequisite (eLearning)
Linking individual Learning objects to the “learning resources” section of my website
Licensing, packaging, selling
More tinkering and experimentation – “I could continue to make adjustments to this course ongoing.”
New content for the course!!!
