Bullying(FromBISD’sCodeofConduct)

BullyingmeansengaginginwriNenorverbalexpressionorphysicalconductthatschoolpersonneldetermine:

Willhavetheeffectofphysicallyharmingastudent,damagingastudent’sproperty,orplacingastudentinreasonablefearofharmtothestudent’spersonorofdamagetothestudent’spropertyorissufficientlysevere,persistent,orpervasiveenoughthattheac;onorthreatcreatesanin;mida;ng,threatening,orabusiveeduca;onalenvironmentforthestudent(TexasEduca;onCode25.0342).

Nostudentshallengageinanyformofbullying,norshallanystudentencourageorassistanyotherpersoninbullying.

Bullyingdoesnotincludenormalchildhoodbehaviorsuchassiblingrivalryorone‐on‐onefigh;ngofsiblingsorpeerswithcompe;ngclaims.Nordoesitincludeactsofimpulsiveaggression‐—inotherwords,aggressionthatisaspontaneous,indiscriminatestrikingout,withnointendedtarget.Suchaggressioniso]enrelatedtoaphysicalormentalhandicap,suchasau;smorAsperger’ssyndrome(highfunc;oningau;sm),andmustnotbedismissedorexcused,butitisnotbullying.Spontaneous,deliberate,indiscriminatestrikingoutalsomaybearesponsebyabulliedkidtoanaNackbyabully,butitisnotbullying.

Bullyingdoesnotincludecriminalac;vi;esthatmayhavebegunasaconflictandescalated.
