Ik ga naar bed. Ik heb morgen school.

Hij is altijd laat, omdat hij slordig is.

de twee.

De mogelijke conjunctions zijn: opsomming, reden/oorzaak, gevolg, keuze

De volgende 2 dia’s zijn ter verduidelijking van het verschil

tussen but, however, though, although en even though.

Er zijn zeker verschillen te noemen, maar het maakt het ook wat

ingewikkelder. Vind je conjunctions al lastig genoeg, besteed

dan niet teveel tijd aan de volgende twee dia’s.


VERSCHIL: though – although – even though – however

although is formeler than though. We gebruiken though vaak in

spreektaal en although in schrift.

even though is een sterkere vorm van tegenstelling uitspreken dan

although.

Although I liked the shoes, I decided not to buy them.

I liked the shoes. I decided not to buy them, though.

Even though I liked the shoes, I decided not to buy them.


VERSCHIL: though – although – even though – however

Gebruik je however/but, dan zijn beide tegenstellingen even zwaar in gewicht.

They may have all the money, but/however we have the brains.

Gebruik je though/although, dan is de ene tegenstelling belangrijker dan de ander.

In onderstaande voorbeelden is geld belangrijker dan hersenen…

They may have the brains, though we have all the money.

Although they may have the brains, we have all the money.

however is ‘ietwat’ positiever dan though/although.
