  • 1. Launch of the project Outline Liverpools Collaborative History This project will research peoples' stories, knowledge and experiences of collaboration and mutual aid in Liverpool. We will explore workers co-operatives, housing co-operatives, friendly associations, mutual aid centres, trade unions, credit unions, LETS systems, and social centres, with particular focus on unearthing lesser known and small scale cases. Liverpools Collaborative History, which is funded by 'All Our Stories' (Heritage Lottery Fund), will look at what these ventures did, why they did it, what effect they had, what worked, what didn't work and how this has relevance for today. In the light of the current world economic troubles we are keen to seek out alternatives to the prevailing competition-based economic system and to learn lessons from the past.
