Class Focus Group Questionnaire Results
1. What do you think the topic of the questionnaire was?
All members of our target audience said ‘Meninism’
Therefore, the topic of our questionnaire was put across well as the audience knew exactly what it was about.
2. Did you enjoy watching the documentary?
70%
30%
YesNo
Therefore, a majority of people said that they enjoyed watching the documentary.
3. What did you like about it?Comments included: “I really liked the graphics, they were very bold and the
red and white colours made it stand out” “It was unique and different from anyone else’s” “It was very interesting” “The graphics of the title were interesting, and the
quotations at the end of the interview made them memorable”
“I learnt about something I’d never heard of before” “I liked the music” “The voxpop and professional interviews” “The ‘To be continued…’ part was very interesting”This therefore suggests that there were many aspects of the documentary that the focus group enjoyed.
4. What did you dislike about it?Comments included: “The subject is unappealing” “The audio levels weren’t always consistent” “At some points, the music was too loud
over the interviews”
Therefore, the main problem with the documentary which made the focus group dislike it were the sound levels, which we will look back at.
5. Do you think the music was appropriate?
All members of the focus group answered ‘Yes’ for this question.
This suggests that there was no problem with the music and that it was all chosen well and linked well with the documentary in general.
6. Have you come away knowing more about ‘Meninism’ than at the start?
75%
25%
YesNo
A majority of the audience said that they went away after watching the documentary knowing more than they did before, and therefore, the documentary fulfilled it’s purpose of being educational and informative.
7. Was the text and audio all synced?
85%
15%
YesNo
Most people said that it was all synced, but we will look back on the documentary and see if there are any times that we can make them more synced.
8. Was there enough time to read the text?
All members of the focus group answered ‘Yes’ to this question.
Therefore, timing of the text worked well and the audience felt they had enough time to read everything on screen, therefore we do not have to change anything about the timing of the text.
9. Would you want to watch the full 40-minute documentary?
55%
45%YesNo
Some people left a comment as to why they wouldn’t watch the full documentary, and the main reason was that they weren’t interested in the topic.
Many people said that they wouldn’t want to watch the full documentary, but the main reason for this is that they wouldn’t enjoy the topic of it. Therefore suggesting that our documentary doesn’t necessarily appeal to everybody of the age group, but maybe people would need to have an interest in the topic to enjoy it. Maybe the reason that the previous focus group really enjoyed the documentary was because they are interested in the topic, and also chose to come to the preview, therefore would be more likely to watch a documentary on Meninism than a class group.
10. Was the audio level consistent?11. If inconsistent, where?
All members of the focus group said that the sound levels were inconsistent. And when asked where, they said: “During the voxpop interviews” “During the group interview and the
interview with the Meninist”
Therefore, we will look back at the documentary and change some of the sound levels.
12. Any other comments? “I enjoyed the anonymous Meninist” “The voice over was very clear and
informative” “Really enjoyed the documentary
overall”
Therefore, the documentary was overall a success.
Now…
The main feedback from this focus group is that we need to focus on changing the sound levels.
We will now do that and so that when we give in our final piece the sound levels are sorted and all interviews and voxpops can be heard clearly.
