community:
To promote using of toilets
Bharti Foundation
• Bharti Foundation is the philanthropic arm of Bharti Group Companies.
• The Foundation aims to help underprivileged children and young people of our country realize their potential.
Satya Bharti School Program
• The Satya Bharti School Program is the flagship program of Bharti Foundation.
• It aims to deliver free quality education to underprivileged children, with special focus on the girl child across rural India.
• The program goal is to establish 500 Primary and 50 Senior Schools reaching out to over 200,000 students
• The promise of this large scale program, through its operation, is to create a replicable, scalable and holistic model of quality education in rural India
• Present Operational Status:• Number of Schools Operational:250
• States of Operation: Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal & Tamil Nadu
• Number of Students Enrolled: Over 36,000
Introduction
Geographical Location:
• Basai bhopal Singh is located at 20 km from NH-8 and District office of Bharti Foundation.
• - With a total population of 1572 In 756 no. of households.
• Cultural Background:
– Majority of the population belongs to
Hindu community .They followed Hindu rituals and traiditions.
- Dominant Caste in Village is Rajput.
- women dressing style is Ghagra & Odhni.
• Community people arehabituated to use open space(field located in front of SatyaBharti school) for toiletpurpose and polluting theenvironment of school andvillage. Next generationstudying at our schools hasrealised the adverse impactof using open space for thesame not only on ourenvironment but also iteffects our health. We felt it afirst hand negativeimpression of our village.
• ‘Promoting of using toilets atevery home rather than usingthe open space’, we imaginedand make the people imaginethe same.
• Aware the community peopleon benefits of using toilets.
• Make the communityresponsible of prohibiting touse open space in future fortoilet by involving them toclean the field (located in frontof the school and earlier beingused for toilet) and prepare itas a playground for the villagekids.
• Organised a meeting withcommunity people to makethem understand about theinitiative of Satya BhartiSchool.
• Organised the rally againstthe identified issue.
• Make them aware aboutbenefits of using toiletsrather than doing it in openspace.
• Door to door counselling anddiscussion with villagers
• Conducted Street play, sangmotivational songs, sloganswith prepared ply cards,poster and banners.
• Community people have understood the benefits of using toilets at homes rather than using the open space located in front of Satyabharti school.
• Community members involved and contributed their efforts to clean the field located in front of our school.
• All of the participants in our joy for giving campaign have signed on the common memorandum and took oath to use toilets and support eco-friendly environment.

• Understand the felt need of community and work on it which
gives new learning to them .
• Children feel proud to be a part of this campaign and become
change agents in the community.
• Staff members gained the confidence to deal with community
problems which is totally different from daily class room
teaching.
• They are curious to do such activity in near future and willing to
do something different from their daily routine work.
• Community members:
- ”Aaj hamare bachho ne ankhe khol di, hum apne
gaon ke prati aur apne prati bahut galat kar rahe the. Aaj se
hum apne gharo main hi sauch karenge aur dusre logo ko
bhi samjhayenge..”

- ”Hame gaon main ye change lane ke liye, bahut
mehnat karna padi. Aur aaj hame ye dekh ke khushi milti hai
ki log gharon main hi sauchalya banakar uska upyog karne
lage hai, aur bahar ka watavaran saaf rakhte hain.”
