Bal Utsav is a nonprofit, nonpartisan professional organization that provides learning opportunities for children, parents, teachers, practitioners, researchers and organizations working with children and youth based issues at the national, state, and local levels.

- Even as India celebrates an impressive jump in the literacy figures, a staggering eight million children are still out of school. There is a huge need for effective school education to every child, thus the need to unite and supplement existing efforts.

- We at Bal Utsav have been doing this by establishing and operating schools in communities where there is a critical need for quality education.

EDUCATING OUT OF SCHOOL CHILDREN

- The programs that are currently operational by Bal Utsav, which are initiatives for inclusive empowerment and education for all, are:

- School for children from Urban Slums/Rag Pickers

- School for children of Migrant Laborers

- Schools for children staying in Tribal Areas of India

WhatWish Tree

- A Wish Tree is literally a Wish Fulfilling tree, that gives you the opportunity to fulfill the wishes/needs of Children supported by Bal Utsav.

- Wishes in the form of Leaves in a Tree are expressed in terms of money, volunteering hours or through donations in kind.

- Persons in your organization and visitors desirous of fulfilling any of these wishes, choose the need they may want to support and pledge the same by filling in their details on the reverse of the tag.

WhatWish Tree

- The person may then pick a Smiley Tag/Wish Fruit from another open box, fill in his/her name and replace it at the place of the Wish Card. - In case of visitors, they could

submit their donation instantly through cheque/in-kind.

- The CSR / HR / Coordinator could then contact the donor and collect the money or the items as per pre-decided procedure e.g. Deduction from salary, cash collection etc.

WhenJoy of Giving Week

- The Daan Utsav - Joy of Giving Week is India’s “festival of giving”! Being celebrated every year, for a week commencing from Gandhi Jayanthi, i.e., October 2, it brings together Indians from all walks of life, to celebrate “Giving”.

- From auto drivers to CEOs, school children to celebrities, homemakers to opinion leaders, millions of people give their time, money, resources or skills back to society- by creating or participating in “Giving” of their choice.

WhereWish Tree

- Install the ‘WISH TREE’ in the lobby / cafeteria / reception or such area of maximum congregation of students, employees, customers and / or visitors.

- The ‘WISH TREE’ can be wall-supported, or be made to stand independently on a pre-provided stand.

- The tree maybe manned by some person to explain the operations or a poster with the same could be prominently displayed visibly next to the ‘Wish Tree’.

- Great way to engage students/employees in giving back.

- Being a fun activity it creates a sense of community service in a creative manner.

- The Smileys bring a smile to everyone’s face when they enter your organization.

- It also makes visitors and customers feel good and also facilitates a platform for them to ‘Give’ while showcasing your organization as being socially conscious.

How To Get Your Wish Tree

- Feel free to design your own wish tree, cards and fruits and get it made directly.

- However, incase, you may not have the time to do this

- We have identified a vendor, who has worked to create a nice design for all of these, and has agreed to produce them and deliver them at a very reasonable cost.

How To Construct Wish Cards and Wish Fruits

- Number of Wish Card / Tags that can be put up is approximately 200.

- The front panel of the Wish Card will need to have BalUtsav written on it.

- The back side of this Wish Card will have the following fields;- Name, - Department/Class, - Employee ID, and - Hand Phone Number and Email

- Wish Card & ‘Wish Fruit’ Tag size: 2.5” x 3.5” 210 GSM Art Card - printed with double side sticker on the top of the tag.

- Wish Card Tags in 1 color and Smiley Tags in another color.
