Audience Research Analysis

To start off my audience research I made a questionnaire for my horror film and this was

collected over a week period this was carried out on survey monkey and this automatically collected data on the computer.

The bar chart below shows the results for the first question on the survey that distinguishes

what gender you are. The results show that the majority of people who took the survey where male 62.50% and female 37.50%.

In this pie chart to the right shows the results for the

second question on the survey which askes how old

you are. This is specific for our movie as we need to

see what age of people will be watching our genre of

horror film. The question results show that the

majority of people who took the survey where of 18

and under. The certification of our horror film is a 15

which fits in nicely with our results on the

questionnaire.

In the results to the right it shows the results for the

third question on the survey for our horror film. The

majority of people chose comedy for their favourite

genre which goes against the purpose of the

questionnaire because we needed people to choose

horror as their favourite genre as the survey was about horror films.

Page 2: Audience research analysis

in the results to the right shows that peoples favourite

sub-genre of horror films is zombie. This is the results

we were looking for because we are making a zombie

horror so it fits in nicely with the audience’s majority

favourite. 33.3% of people in the survey voted that

zombie was their favourite out of the other sub genres.

Paranormal was the second favourite by 10% and the

others were a close follow behind by a couple of percent.

On the right it shows the result for our fifth question on

the survey. The question asked what you would like to

see in a horror film. The answers where shown in

percentages of the one that would be wanted to be seen

the most. The results show that out of the nine people

who answered the question a large percentage of

people wanted to see suspense the most followed by

blood being the second most wanted in a horror film.

This helps us to develop as we can now put this into

consideration for our film.

The results to the right show the results for question six and

this question was basically asking what type of certification

do you or would you rather watch. The results display that

majority of the people who took the survey would rather

watch a 15 which will be displayed on our horror film as that is the target audience that we are aiming at.

The final set of results shown the right of this text displays the

results for the comment box question which asked where you

would recommend for filming for a horror film the majority of

answers told us to film in abandoned places or woods which is a stereotypical place to film for a horror film.

In conclusion this survey was made to get results of data from

a selection of people in our target audience overall the results

were very good and helped us through the procedure of our horror film.
