Q1: Portal

A portal is a web system that provides the functions and features to authenticate and identify the users and provide them with an easy, intuitive, personalized and user-customizable web-interface for facilitating access to information and services that are of primary relevance and interests to the users.

The main benefit of setting up a portal

To bring the vast information and service resources available from many sources to many users in an effective manner.

User can save time and see in a single snap-shot a composite view of all information and data inter-relationships.

Use of portal applications can make employees more productive and can improve customer and partner relationships.

A Blog

A type of website that usually maintained by an individual with regular commentary, descriptions of events or other entries such as graphics or video. Most blogs are interactive, allowing visitors to leave comments and even message each other

The benefits of setting up a blog

Information from other bloggers is usually ahead of the mainstream press.

Provide cheap marketing. By raised a profile on the webs can increase visits and customer.

Have big possibility of meeting business partners and people with same of interest.

Can be a large performance support system. Problems can be posted on the blog and someone else may give the solution required.

Communities of practice (CoPs) are dynamic groups associated by communication and learning processes which are dedicated to issues of joined interest. They are often being in disparate physical locations, share a common identity, background or purposes.

Portal can be used to support CoPs in providing a knowledge sharing platform, because the sharing of knowledge is the essential process constituting a Community of Practice. Members of CoPs can interact through portal to pursue mutual interests or goals.

i) Wordpress – is an open source blog tool and publishing platform powered by PHP and MySQL. As of February 2011, version 3.0 had been downloaded over 32.5 million times.

ii) Blogger – is a blog-publishing service that allows private or multi-user blogs with time-stamped entries. Generally, the blogs are hosted by Google at a subdomain of blogspot.com.

iii)Moveable Type – is a weblog publishing system developed by Six Apart company. On December 2007, Moveable Type was relicensed as free software under the GNU General Public License. The current vision is 5.04

iv)LiveJournal – is a free and open source server software that was designed to run the LiveJournal virtual community. Its blogging features include those found in similar blogging sites (multiple authors, commenting, calendars and polls)

v) Drupal- is a free and open source content management system (CMS). It is used as a back-end system for websites ranging from personal blogs to corporate and political sites.

• To share valuable memories that helps the other members learn from the others’ experiences and collect tips about happiness and life harmony.

• Target viewers will be adult individual may include parents, husband and wife, parent-to-be and also bachelor individual too.

To support the CoPs: must align with our blog objectives:• To attract the family member which may include

parents, husband, wife, parent-to-be and also adult member to visit our blog and participate.

• To share the practices of Islamic as a way of life toward happiness and life harmony.

• To share family matter issues which may include topic on love, marriage, pregnancy, parenting, career, health care, holiday destination, beauty care and etc.

• To provide shout-box for blog’s members to chat about family matters and handling problems.

In order to support the CoPs and enable to attract participation, the interested individual is invited either

• to register as blog’s member which enable them to participate in the shout-box and share their valuable stories and experiences in the blog or

• to add themselves as our blog’s followers which enable to follow the development of the blogs

All posting will be related to the topic of love, marriage, career satisfaction, parenting, health care, beauty care, foods, recipes, family-budget planning, holiday destination and others family’s issues.

Since this blog is very new, only a few activities that be able to be provided. We hope to add more activities related to family activities and occasions which align with our blog objectives.

For the future, we are planning to upgrade our calendar design by using free software: Smilebox.com where it provides more features and designs. Smilebox enable us to personalize it according to our preferences such upload our families photos, music and more colorful.

•Type your name in the Name field.•Type your website in the Website field (if any).•Type your message in the Message field.•Click Shout button to publish your message.•You will see your message appear in the Chat Di Sini column.

appear.• Sign in using an account you have already created, google, twitter or yahoo. If you do not have any account, click a hyperlink create a new google account.• Select your ID• Add picture/photo• Click button Follow This Blog
