Sand was second best. This makes sense because the Egyptians would have wood and sand around to use when they built the pyramids. We thought Ice would be best, but was actually one of the worst. This is okay because the Egyptians did not have ice, we don’t think. What Other Questions Can We Ask? How many people did it take to move one block? How much energy was used to make the entire pyramid? Acknowledgements Step #1: Identify your topic of interest The number of joules needed to move a sandstone block. Step #2: Identify your variables - Control –Moving the block across the table. - Independent Variable – Surface. - Dependent Variable –The amount of energy needed to move the block. Step #3: How will you change the independent variable? It will be changed by moving the block to a new surface. Step #4: What data will you collect? The amount of force Step #5: How will the data be collected? A Force Gauge Step #5: How will data be recorded? In an excel spreadsheet Step #7: What materials do I need to complete my investigation? Ice, sand, table, floor, water, leaves, other rocks, I-Pad, force gauge. ConclusionsWe found that the wood rollers made the block the easiest to move.
