I was born in Kismaayo, a port city in sourthern Somalia in mid 80s
1977: USSR leaves Somalia to be allied to Ethiopian Marxist regime USA replaces USSR, gives Somalia $600 million from 1977-1985
• 1988-1989: Soviet funded Opposition movements fight Somali government
• 1988: Ronal Regan Administration ends military aid to Somalia, Somalia turns to IMF, World Bank for loans
• 1991: opposition groups overthrow the military government, law and order breaks down
