It is a 1 year full-time programme designed to aid international students enter UK/US/CAN/AUS/NZ universities
UFPs are usually part preparation and part matriculation
Students gain a full year over standard entry methods like A levels which are 2years full-time
There is a difference between INTERNATIONAL University Foundation Programmes (UFPs) and UK/EU Student UFPs.
1. The International student UFP is a one year replacement for Level 3 e.g. Instead of 2 year A levels/IB/ Btec programmes etc
2. The UK/EU student UFP is for ‘home’ students who do not have the correct combination of A level/IB/ Btec subjects and need to convert e.g. From Humanities to Science
Art Foundation ProgrammesThis step is usually required by many UK art faculties first – after A levels etc – in order for the student to experience different art forms prior to their main degree
Foundation DegreesThese are degrees that have 240 credit (two year) status in order to give students basic knowledge. Successful Foundation Degree students can ‘top –up’ with a further year to gain an Honours degree(similar can be done with HNDs).
International University Foundation Programmes are widely acceptable now –although not by all universities and not by all departments.
Programmes are run by many; INTO; NAVITAS; NCC; STUDY GROUP; TRC etc
Progression is often to specific university partners with a guarantee of a place with a specific pass mark.
UCAS offers are a possibility
IELTS in order that students exit the UFP with at least a score of 6.0

YES but they may not all have a universal currency
University Foundation Programmes are usually endorsed or validated by a partner university – and may not appear on the UK NQF.
However some may be independently validated.Example; The TRC University Foundation Programme is overseen by the UK Examinations Board QUALIFI and is therefore a recognised UK Level 3 qualification.
