A Scare at Halloween
By Maggie Haswell
It was Halloween, and for the first time I was allowed to go with my big brother
Mikey to the bonfire in the crags (*Crags are a rocky area often overgrown)
It was dark in the crags so I stayed close to Mikey and the lantern. We could see the
bonfire through the trees
When we got to the bonfire we told ghost stories. It was cool but a little scary!!
Then through the trees we saw them…The walking dead…ZOMBIES!!!
“Run!” they said. “Keep up!” said Mikey. They ran into the bushes. But I couldn’t keep up.
I was alone…The ZOMBIES were coming! What will I do?
I hid behind a tree.
The ZOMBIES spoke…”Where is everyone,” they said.
“Is that you Maggie?” said the biggest ZOMBIE. He sounded just like my cousin Danny O’Neill
“The boys got scared and ran off,” I said. “I’ll take you home” said DANNY
“Thanks for bringing me home Zombies,” I said.“Anytime Maggie,” they said. “Your Mam’s waiting.”
By the time Mikey got home I had finished my tea, had my bath and was watching TV. Mikey said he and the boys had
searched the whole crags looking for me…silly duffers.
