Attributes of a Great Toy

• The best materials and toys are flexible.

• Materials should be appealing and interesting to the children and offer many opportunities for success.

• Great toys help a child learn how to learn.

• The best toys respectfully reflect children’s family live as well as provide opportunities for exploring other cultures.

• Items for classrooms should be durable and suitable for use with groups.

• Great toys are well constructed, shatterproof, strong enough to hold a child’s weight, and safe for the ages of the children in the group.

• Materials shouldn’t have sharp edges, points, exposed nails, projectiles, loud noises, or require batteries.

• Corners are rounded and surfaces are smooth.

• Finishes and dyes should be non-toxic and meet all safety standards.

• Great toys and materials must be easily cleaned and hold up to repeated washings.

3. Give children time to make their own rules, pretend, and establish boundaries.

4. Use a chart and graph the expected chores for each child.

5. Help children who struggle with time management organizing their free time and activities.

6. Present children with two choices and move to three when they mature.

7. Small tasks should be completed and praise them.

8. Label shelves and containers with pictures and words.

9. Have older children as mentors for the younger ones. Both will benefit from the interaction.

10. When children make friends it helps to develop positive self-images , express empathy, and caring for others.

Conclusion

Child development is very important to understand and help in enhancing a child’s development. In the three articles I feel help in promoting the learning

and teaching environment of the students and teachers. It helps to establish how to teach self-

reliant students. It also talks about how to get appropriate toys and educational materials for the

classroom. As well as it talks about different theories in the development of children.
