GET INVOLVED





There are 3 main ways to get involved at the Center for Community Outreach

1Single Event/OnetimeAttend and help at programs such as UK FUSION or UK Dog Day. The time commitment is approximately 3-4 hours during the onetime event.

2Program CommitmentAttend monthly program meeting such as STAG or PLAY and commit to actively participating in program events, fundraising, tabling, and direction. The time commitment is approximately 1-2 hours per week.

3Campus CommitmentAttend and participate in multiple programs. Take an active role in the leadership and direction or a program(s) and/or special Center for Community Outreach Event. The time commitment is approximately 4-5 hours per week.

DanceBlue is a 24 hour no sleeping, no sitting dance marathon to raise money for UK’s Pediatric Oncology Hospital. 2008’s total raise was

$680,000.00

The money raised contributes to cancer research and staffing. Opportunities to help in planning are available.

FUSIONDanceBlue Young at Heart FUSION PLAY STAG




Special Events houses activities that are outside the scope or resources of one single program. Such activities are Circle of Love (a campus-wide giving tree), the Volunteer Fair, and the Volunteer Banquet. The program plans to expand into High School Volunteer Outreach.

YOUNG AT HEARTDanceBlue Young at Heart FUSION PLAY STAG




Young at Heart is a program dedicate to the elderly and associated disorders such as Alzheimer's. Popular activities include Cup of Coffee for Awareness Day, The Derby Party at Ashland Terrace, and Stocking Stuffers at the Holidays.

PLAYDanceBlue Young at Heart FUSION PLAY STAG




PLAY stands for “Placing Leaders Among Youth.” It is a program that helps college students impact and influence elementary, middle, and high school students through various means. Some of the most popular options are tutoring at afterschool programs, helping with english as a 2nd language, or going to the David School to mentor youth.
